Just have to throw in my 2 cents worth and say it really is an individual parenting choice. My daughter always nursed to sleep till one day she just didn't fall asleep at the breast and went down awake. We've had no issues with this and I don't mind nursing her back to sleep in the night if she is teething. Whatever the parent wants to do is the right choice for them :)

yes. completely true. I really should have said this in the video. I take responsibility for the conversation or confusion that's going on in the comments. I was just trying to be quick since Ry was entertaining my unhappy beeble whilst I recorded. Had this parenting style not fit so easily with Scarlet I would not have continued it and instead looked for other methods.

E loves her soother too. We have the rainforest one with the monkey, frog and fish. Like it but I loved the moon and stars and the music on S's.

When scarlet was in our room she woke 5-8 times a week and needed to be nursed back to sleep each time. The only thing that made her sleep through the night was her own room. Sorry! I know how hard it is, she was in our room for 6 months. It was really hard.

With different families and situations come different ideas and methods. As long as the child is cared for, to each their own right? :) I think you had the best intentions with your comment, to relate with what we chose to do and compliment us for it working so well, other mothers might feel like their family choices are being questioned. In the video I should have said that I was only expressing what was right for our parenting decisions. Sorry if I put you or any other mothers under fire!

Goodness gracious...way too sensitive mama's. I read the orig comment and I don't believe it was meant to be judgemental. She just spoke her opinion and I'm glad we are allowed to. Every mama is diff and Marie didn't need to take responsibility 4 something she didn't cause. Love ur reviews, very helpful in making decisions on products. :)

Mine slept through the night and I could put him in his own room awake . This was up until 10 months . Now he is 15 months and is very fussy at night . He wants to be held every time he wakes up in the night . It can be hard going when he wakes up about 4 to 5 times in the night ! I'm hoping that moving him from a cot to a proper bed will help him sleep better :)

Great video review Marie! I love how you're trying to protect everyones feelings :) You're great! I agree that everyone has to come up with their own routine, whatever works for them...co-sleeping with my 7 month old works for me.

Wow!!! I just read the comment about nursing to sleep being considered as a "parenting mistake" excuse me!!! I have 3 children and all three have been nursed to sleep and I continue to nurse my 13 month old who also co sleeps with me! All three are well adjusted children and all three sleep through the night! Every parent has the choice to parent however THEY choose! Wow I can't believe someone would put that out there like they are the " know all of parenting". Marie- I thought it was a lovely

I had a fisher price Ocean Wonders Aquarium one that did pretty much the same thing. I thought it was a Must Have as well. All my kids Loved it... Until we ran out of batteries with my youngest. We replaced after about 2 weeks (I know i was slacking) and she didn't end up wanting it anymore.

and where did you find this information? I have a 2 year old who I nursed to sleep until I stopped breastfeeding at 14 months. He now happily goes to sleep by himself. Its what worked for us. Just because this is your opinion, doesnt make it a 'parenting mistake'

I've responded to the other moms that are in on this discussion and I wish, like facebook I could tag you all so that you can see what I've written. So, I'm going to ask that you look at what I said back to jessedholm & duckduckgander. I take responsibility for this conversation going awry. Every family is different and I agree that there is no one path for any baby. If this parenting method doesn't work for my next child then we will search for other options. Check out my other comments. :)

Yea Ry actually hung it to the wall in our room on a jewelry hook thing and then attached it to a tall boy chair when we were on vacation. Nothing too professional.

not all babies are created equally. 4 months is a very 'hard' number that may not be feasible for all babies (or mamas) to adhere to! plus many mothers co-sleep so babies are not just 'laid down in cribs awake' - just food for thought!

so picking up a crying baby and comforting a baby to sleep is a bad thing??? right!! makes perfect sense ;) ;) lol! I will continue to do what comes natural, I will cuddle my son to sleep, pick him up and cuddle him when he crys, and comfort him when needed. They dont stay little forever. One day we will wake up and our little ones will be grown and moved out of home, and we will be left with only memories. I will continue to treasure what short time I have with my baby whilst he is young.

I noticed the "discussion" that has spawned off this comment and I really should have addressed this in the video. Obviously the reason I felt the soother was necessary was because it was a tool that aided our parenting choices. We wanted to encourage her to self sooth right away. I think this is what you were agreeing with as well for your family. In no way to I want to undercut any other parent who chooses something that is different and better for their kiddo/family. *continued*

My son is 9 months were currently living with my mother in law *sigh* so that means Freddie's in with us. We put him down to bed between 7-8pm with a bottle before bed and he goes into his cot sleepy but awake! He goes to sleep fine but this is where were having problems he's waking during the night and will only go back to sleep on the bottle-he doesn't need rocking etc & he wont accept a dummy as sufficient soothness* we've tried the crying it out method but that didn't work any ideas?
