The reason why Matthew is not seen fully in this episode, was, to give Richard Cadell and Liana Bridges the chance to have the viewers get to know them. Richard, had already been seen some 13 years earlier on the Sooty Show when he was just 16-years-old. Fast-forward to 1998 and he is 28 or 29 when this episode was recorded.

Classictv90s He won the Young Magician of the Year, and got a chance as a long time Sooty fan to appear on the show, I thought it was when he was 14 though. Matthew remembered him when he was looking for a replacement, as he wanted a magician.

@@JasmineSurrealVideos I think it works because Matthew's father Harry Corbett was a magician too. So having Richard be Sooty's new right hand man (no pun intended) was pretty much taking back to Sooty's original roots of working alongside another magician.

Richards hair is strange in this, its normally great in the more recent Sooty shows where he works at the amusement park, but it looks a bit like a mixture of semi permed birds nest and fluff from a jumper here. He has a lovely smile though which makes up for it! I laughed like anything when the little imps got a crane and were trying to hook his "wig" up. Its a great episode and very inventive, the chocolate prison and the wig fiasco. A nice way of introducing the new presenters, not just letting them do an episode entirely but mixing them in with Matthew. I very much enjoy Sooty Heights with Richard and Liana, they are both very good and easy with the puppets, although I think Richard is better, Lianas a bit stage schooly, but it works well. However I prefer Brenda who plays a variety of characters in it like Mo from the market, shes more natural.

Yeah there was a BBC News interview with Matthew, Richard, Sooty and Sweep recently and Matthew had a lot more charm still than Richard. I don't have anything against Richard nice guy, saw him in 2004 with Sooty and the gang at Pontins, great then, but Matthew was the best presenter in my opinion.

Tbh this episode is the worst in my opinion why because they automatically believe scampi did the crime without no court case and just said scampi did it and when scampi was cleared of that crime you inspect they apologised to scampi for blaming him but no they did absolutely nothing not even a sorry I absolutely hate this episode because of it
