It was sad to say goodbye to Matthew, but I was glad that the production team made reference in the show to the fact that Matthew was leaving and that Sooty, Sweep and Soo would soon have new owners. It was a very decent handover that showed respect to the child audience and didn't patronise them in any way. I wish Rainbow had done the same when Rod, Jane and Freddy left. They just disappeared between series without a word and that was that! No more songs and music in the show. I never got over it!!
