Gosh, Soph. I've been a subscriber of yours for years and I cannot emphasize how wonderful it is that you show closs ups of your skin and makeup without the crazy smoothing lightning. I've recently gotten acne around my chin/lips and it's put me off doing my makeup because I get so insecure about the texture foundation and powder creates. Your videos make me try again and remember why I fell in love with makeup in the first place. The Rare beauty powder is a finishing powder, so it's meant as a final step to melt your base products - bronzer, blush - into the rest of your base and just to very lightly mattify and ensure that your already set skin will stay matte, I'd use it like that or as a touch up powder rather than setting with it to begin with

The space NK and Sephora websites says it’s a setting powder though. It says it’s to set powder and reduce shine and that it has buildable coverage.

@@eilidhm9322 it says in the name of the product it's a finishing powder. Using it as a final step is considered setting and would reduce shine. It would also add coverage to your base as it's tinted. Loose setting powders are typically what work best for the vast majority of people to initially set your makeup.

Thought I’d try it as a setting powder anyway as it said it could set your makeup, but think I will pop it in my handbag for touch ups from now on! 😊

Yeah that's what a lot of influencers were saying to defend the product. I think it's an average product so can only be used as a finishing powder. It's described by websites as a finishing powder that can also set. Personally I find the colours too dark. The lightest is far too dark for me. For finishing powder I prefer the hourglass ambient lighting powder as I never understood the point of a finishing powder that does nothing. The rare beauty doesn't set, doesn't brighten, doesn't give glow. It's pointless.

Your skin looks AMAZING! I use the Laura Mercier hydrating primer and it kinda transforms into a mesh on my skin and every time I use it as a base, I get compliments. Having said that, I’m defo going to try the Bobby Brown foundation. Looks soooooo good!

Beauty bay eyeshadow palettes are great. I love to do colourful eye looks and they have palettes in every possible colour story! The pigmentation is pretty decent for an affordable brand. The only thing to bear in mind is they do have a bit of fallout but if you do your eyes pre base you're golden

Mac Glow Play in Blush Please is one of my faves! Been using it for a while now and it sits on the skin so beautifully, and I love the subtle glow it gives. As a mature woman I don’t really use highlighter anymore and I find this gives the perfect amount of glow

Hi Soph, please could you review some MUA Superdrug products. I got a few things and I’m impressed. There a tube lip balm that’s so good, also the lipsticks, lip liners and eyeliners are really impressive. Ridiculous value for money. The balms are £3 and are comparable with high end balms. Xxx

Setting powder is meant to do exactly that, set your makeup. Finishing powder is more for looks, like softening pores and texture. That's the difference. Hope that helps!! 💙🖤
