I moved into a rental property last year and in the lounge was I presumed was a storage space it was in fact an 1930/1940 pantry with cold slab included I was so happy the in the kitchen another storage space which I turned into a small laundry room 😊

For the pie bird (and the cocktail shaker), I'd say you loved the thought of the gift, it was appreciated at the time, so it served its purpose. And now you can let it go to the charity shop. It's kind of tied with a fantasy self, "oo it's cute, one day I'll put it in a pie" (or "Ooh one day I'll make cocktails"). But usually we don't do our fantasy self things, so there's no need to let it take cupboard space really. xx

I absolutely love this sentiment and will certainly be applying to this and everything going forward! A lot of the reason I keep things is because I feel bad about giving something gifted away, this is a much better way of looking at it! 🥰🥰🥰
@JessieBenson932 ай бұрын
@@Sopherina I heard it recently from The Minimal Mom (I think). And she was like: it's purpose was for someone to show they loved you and you to feel appreciated and thought of. Whether it actually got used doesn't devalue the gifting process really, so you can release the guilt :) (I do this often as my mum sometimes buys me clothes that are just not quite my style). x

I would definitely keep the pie bird, you can make it a fun thing with your kids to get them involved to listen out when it's ready. Especially at Christmas, can make it a tradition to get it out to make a special leftover Xmas dinner pie every year ❤️
@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
Ahhhh!!! The idea of making it a yearly tradition has now made me want to keep it haha! OK - If I don't use it by Christmas Day, I am donating it... 🥰
@stefaniebaggaley95752 ай бұрын
You could give unwanted in date food to a food bank, they have donation bins at supermarkets
@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
I thought those bins were just for freshly bought things from the shops to put in at checkout! Really handy thank you 🥰

I do use Robitussin DM ( that was recommended by my allergist) for when I am coughing and stuffy. He told me it has something in it to unclog my nose, thin the mucus and help with coughing. I have asthma, so if I start to get sick I use it and it helps me a lot. He also told me to always drink something hot to drain my sinuses so I can get my inhaler mist into my lungs and get my nose spray into my sinus cavities. So, I do all of this with hot tea, honey and Russian tea and homemade chicken soup. Just my regimen. I remember being so sick 🤧 when I was pregnant with my son! I could only take one thing and it didn’t even work for me. I pray you stay well and healthy through your pregnancy!
@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
Robitussin sounds good, I may look into that! I get very blocked and stuffy sinus issues and I think Orin has inherited that from me… so I’m currently on a mission to find some really natural and long lasting remedies and life changes to sort this, with plenty of natural inflammation! We’ve found an air purifier has really helped as well. Russian tea and homemade chicken soup sounds lovely! ♥️

Sophie I would keep the pie bird!! It's so unique! And also, you know you can change the height of the presses? Do you see the silver hooks under the shelves, you can pop those out and readjust the height 😊😊😊😊

I’ve kept it for now! If I don’t use it this Christmas period I think it’s time to donate it but I really want to make it a tradition to use it because it’s so unique and cool! ♥️

Great video. The pie bird I’d personally keep as we getting to the cooler months when yours most likely to use it for pies. Maybe put it into your favourite pie dish so you remember. If by the time your packing to move you haven’t used it then give it away
@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
Really good idea to store it in a pie dish! X
@joannebailey36982 ай бұрын
You need to use your pie bird for any pie with pastry it lets the steam out so you don’t get a soggy top .

Hi Sophie, do you still have your lovely cats. Have not seen them for ages. Just your pet Rabbit in the house ?
@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
Of course! Moodles, the little black cat has featured quite a few times in the videos recently because she loves to meow as soon as I start talking to the camera! But in the summer they spend most of the day outside sleeping in the bushes in the garden, only coming in at nighttime so it's harder to see them in videos. They'll be making a return when the cold sets in no doubt 🥰

Food bank what's in date. There will be people that will be grateful for those items. Are you going to put the homemade mincemeat with the other ready made jar you found? I was thinking...oh no they can't be in separate cupboards 😂😂 Can you combine some of the same stuff together like gravy granules split peas etc. That will create room. I cannot believe the tomato soup. I actually went to my kitchen to check mine!! Also ypu could move the height of the shelves in the cupboard with alcohol so you can put it at the top. Hope you are feeling better in your 2nd trimester. 😊 xx
@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
Got a bag ready for the food bank! Totally didn’t know you could bring stuff unopened from home to donate! The mince meat is distressing because it won’t all fit in one jar 🤣 I’m actually tempted to make some September mince pies…. 🥧 they can be frozen so I don’t think it’s a bad idea xxxx

@Sopherina2 ай бұрын
😂 ahhh! One of those things that would be super useful if used but also, just not part of a “normal routine” utensil type thing so I never think to get it out! Xx

@Sopherina I have so many "useful" kitchen gadgets that each do one randomly specific job... and I never use any of them 😆 I just can't part with them though because they seem so useful
@lauraburdekin65592 ай бұрын
Can't you move the shelves around in that first cupboard so that the alcohol can go on the top and the condiments at the bottom?

I would get rid of the pie bird. You don't use it, it's taking up space and someone else will love it. I'm so awkward with gifts because i want to keep it because someone gave it me. But the reality is, they've felt good giving you something and they'll never think of it again. So don't let it take up space it it's not being used xx

I’m hoping to move at some point in the future. Me and my husband have started getting rid of anything we don’t want. It feels good getting rid of stuff you don’t need. My daughter in law had a lovely dressing gown off me. It took up a huge amount of space in my wardrobe. I’ve just got rid of a half used bottle of Baileys that had been in the fridge since Christmas. 😂 I’ve worked in a pharmacy and pretty much agree with what you were told about cough syrup. Warm juice with honey is comforting. I used to give my children vitamin drops. It used to go in their fruit juice. You’ve made me want to tackle my cupboards now. 😂 xx
