290g water
1 tsp malt syrup
1 level Tbsp dry active yeast
500g strong white bread flour
1 heaped tsp fine sea salt
30g caster sugar
1 egg white
Poppy seeds, sesame seeds or cinnamon and sugar for topping

I mean mine weren’t as perfect looking but for my first try I’m so impressed! They were so golden and tasted amazing! I only just got my thermomix for Christmas so this is like the second recipe I’ve made so far haha! So simple and easy to make! Thank you for the recipe ☺️☺️

My father was a N.Y. bagel Baker for 40 years. You're very close to his style. He would use corn meal not flour to set the bagels on. Malt is essential for the flavor. Your second method of rolling into strip and shaping is close too. Kudos to you for doing it right.

Sophia, is there any substitute for malt syrup? These look yummy! Thanks for the recipe :) Also, what does that water do before closing the oven door?

Seems a tad too crunchy Also seeds look a bit burnt Also i know most ny methods require letting the dough sit a lot longer All in all though, glad to see the thermomix can make the dough so quickly May be a great option for starting a small bagel business

You can just leave it out or you could try honey :)
