I had an adorable dog, Roxy, whom we rescued from Cluj Napoca in 2008. She lived 17.5years and is the absolute image of Sophie (other than having a short tail) and shared many of her habits and mannerisms. I'd love to share a photo and perhaps some of her progress when she arrived in London . . .

It is so sad that she found the world so scary, but so great that she has found a loving family , who have the time and patience to devote to her. I do include Si as part of her family, she will do well with them around her!

Simon, you have helped Sophie understand that she is safe in the big wide world. She has owners who love her and have been keen to follow your guidance to make Sophie the best dog she can be. She’ll repay you all 10 fold. ❤

Oh Si... Sophie is a star! I wish I had had your time and patience with our rescues. I feel like I have not always been the best at helping them. So much conflicting advice given by two dog behaviourists, and a third at a training centre.... please write a simple book. Easy to understand. With allowances for those who can't be 'on call' for training 100%. Which is what I feel some trainers expect you to be. Bravo Si, Sophie, Rory, and Diane.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Absolutely fantastic to see - she's really gaining confidence, and the slow patient approach was just what she needed. She clearly loves her Uncle Si as well!

I don't know if my comment was sent - if so apologies for repeating. We brought an adored dog, Roxy, back to the UK from Cluj Napoca. She lived until the age of 18. She looked almost identical to Sophie, other than having a short tail, and had very similar mannerisms. I'd love to share a photo and some of her characteristics . . .

What a lovely video. She's so relaxed with you! So here's a question. I'm on my fourth dog as an adult, and my current dog Zoe Bowie, a purebred American field Labrador, is the first one who has asked for belly rubs. She's obsessed with them. So if we go out shopping and I take her into a store, she spends our whole time in the store trying out her 5-point belly rub technique on successive strangers: (1) make eye contact; (2) sit on one of their feet and lean against them; (3) slide down their shins ; (4) lie on her side; (5) roll over onto her back. This works quite well, btw. But I'm befuddled by it as she is my first dog who has shown any interest in belly rubs. None of the others rolled over for strangers (or even for me unless I encouraged them to).

I know nothing about training nervous dogs so my comment may be totally off-beam but I wonder if the lead is too bright and eye-catching? would a brown one be less alien?
