Bunny revisits a garden that she helped a client design well over 20 years ago. More recently Sophie Allport and her husband bought the house and have adapted the garden to suit her young family with three ball mad boys. They have added a swimming pool, and you can see lots of Sophie’s designs: benches, tables, throws etc to the garden.
The pool still has the stunning marginal irises: Iris laevigata ‘Dorothy Robinson’ and ‘Weymouth’ which Bunny used in her Chelsea Flower Show garden in 2004, to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the famous boat race between Oxford and Cambridge. Bunny brought some of them back for the previous owners.

What a phenomenal memory Bunny has ! Here she is talking about designs from 25 years ago as she still looks like a young “Thirty something…” I have looked with concern at her lifting pots and tools etc with her back exposed between trousers and sweater and am mindful of the consequence of doing the same during the COVID years that have resulted in huge lower back injury now. Please take care Bunny; you are a National Treasure…….!Evie.

Thank you Bunny and Sophie. When I tuned in, I checked my special T towels (that's what we call them over here🇨🇦), and lo and behold, I have the bunny ones. I think I better come over with a empty suitcase next time! I love your garden too. (obvs)🙂

If anyone is wondering the tree in the front yard is a giant sequoia from California brought to England in second half of the 19 th century Victoria times by William lobb. There is a little forest of them somewhere in England but most are dotted around at estates and arboretums.
