It does matter. Hard living can show on a person and can show the type of environment that her daughter may have grown up in that fostered what she became as a mother. That type of stuff tends to be generational and didn’t start with just the daughter. I would be interested in the daughters story and the grandmothers too.

I will say once Dept of Children Services gets involved there are much bigger issues. Grandparents can legally go through the courts to get custody so the child can be in a safer environment without child services getting involved but it didn’t look like that was the case. That says a lot right there. Looking at the whole picture would give a more clear understanding which this video clip does not show.

When I was 14 I was able to work during the summer through a jr. high program. I worked with a pregnant 14 yr old and we became friends. I remember her telling me that she was pregnant by her stepfather and that she already had one baby by him so this was her 2nd…at age 14!! She always seemed so sad and would sleep a lot when we were working. I felt so bad for her and was disgusted that her stepdad had been molesting her, resulting in 2 pregnancies. At my age I didn’t think to tell another adult or the authorities. Now I wish I could go back.

The chances a child predator will focus their attention on single parent family is extremely high. This also includes women predator as well. I had a men once that was trying to date me hard core, it wasn't long I found out he was on the sex offender list. He also had an STD. He wanted to be my girls daddy right away. It’s a hell of a paradox, because you can kill a woman, beat a woman hell kill and beat a kid and you may be fine. But sexual abuse and you will need to be in Protective Custody. It’s my belief that so many men incarcerated have suffered from sexual abuse, that once they are incarcerated they have a way to speak/act out against it. My ex-husband has an uncle, his mother's brother, who is still married today to a woman he impregnated at the age of 12. They all think this is no big deal. If you met them now, many, many years later, you would think they have this incredibly happy marriage. I still can't get past that he impregnated her at 12 and married her soon after. But then, that entire family is a bunch of horror stories.

In 1979 my mother's boyfriend looked at me that way. I was fondled by him and I didn't tell until I became an adult. A young child shouldn't have to be subjected to repeated violations. Know the signs watch out for your son's and daughters.A third leg or vag coming in your house isn't worth the risk of your children. Letting a man or woman come stay with you and your underage children that is related or unrelated isn't worth your children's safety and childhood. Know the enemy you let in your house. I don't let anyone near my son he's 16 now and I check in with him every few days and I teach him when a woman or girl says no it's a no. Don't get caught up in that. First, I hope the Mother was also prosecuted for allowing him to have access to her when she knew that he was suspected of sexually abusing her. The police certainly dropped the ball when they took 2 years to process the evidence against him. When you have a child possibly be sexually abused, any evidence you have to substantiate the crime should always be on Rush! A child's life is in danger! She never would have become pregnant if police had acted quickly. Child abuse cases must be priorities! They cannot wait for normal time delays. A child can be killed or emotionally and physically destroyed by delays.

Not so long ago, I saw a short film on the number of cities in the U.S. where rape kits would have never been processed if certain women's rights groups, or persistent lawyers had not made a big issue over why the kits were just being ignored. The misogyny in this country has to be stopped. So many women & girls are victimized twice.
