"The song "Some of These Days," written by Black ragtime and vaudeville composer Shelton Brooks, was first performed by Sophie Tucker. Brooks was inspired to write the song after overhearing a heated argument between two women in a restaurant that contained the titular line. He got the song in front of the burlesque singer's eyes by passing it through her maid, and, when she performed it the next night, it became an instant hit, with the sheet music eventually selling more than 2 million copies." - © Madison Troyer 2021.
