Hi, great tutorial. I like your style and technic. Thanks for sharing. I have two alternatives to your workflow. Copying Modifiers is also possible with selecting the objects without the modifier and at last the object with the modifiers (active object). Then you can press CMD+L or CTRL+L to link the modifier to all selected objects. You can find it in the menu under Objects-> Make Links -> Modifiers I agree the eraser isn't perfect, but you can change various types of eraser. I think the "Eraser Point" type has the same functionality than your Edit -> Lasso select -> Delete Method. I hope for more tutorials and I wish I could draw.

Ohh that is such a helpful trick for sharing the modifiers! Thanks for letting me know!! I definitely prefer the eraser point out of all the erasers... but I think I still have trouble with it erasing points in other strokes that I don't want it to. What I really like about the vertex select is they get highlighted in orange and I know exactly what I'm erasing! But thanks for your comment and I'm happy this was helpful :D

PART 2 IS OUT NOW! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJLOfndnebeWo6s This is my first tutorial series! Please don't hesitate to reach out for clarifications or if you have any questions. Also, feedback on how I can improve for future tutorials would be so appreciated. So originally a good half of this tutorial was going to be on sculpting and animating. And I may still do tutorials about that in the future, but I realized that’s not what I want to focus on. What I think I most have to offer is a unique way of using grease pencil, blending the 2D and 3D in exciting ways. And that’s really what I want to focus on with my channel.

In the case of separate meshes you can also press the fullstop on the numpad to go into local object view. Going in and out of it could probably help with the random strokes!

It's funny that you made this--I saw your horse on Gumroad. I made something like this several years ago; several sets, in fact. I never thought of using the grease pencil on top of it, though, as my Cintiq is a DTF-521, so I never really use it in Blender. (I've drawn on the material sometimes, though!) That's a really good idea! Great work!

Hi Sophie, I'm brand new to Blender, but I have used some 3D although I've never sculpted. I have absolutely fallen in love with the way you use Grease Pencil and I'd like to try something similar. When you make your animations do you always sculpt and rig first before you begin with the Grease Pencil? Thank you so much for sharing your process!

Woohoo! Yes, sorry I never replied to your comment on my other video, I'm still new to Blender and it's really hard to figure out what the problem can be. Maybe the second answer here can help, it involves saving a new startup file? blender.stackexchange.com/questions/195394/how-to-remain-the-appended-brushes-in-grease-pencil I use a wacom cintiq, and I adopted my partner's old laptop, and I'm not techy at all so when I asked him what it is here is what he told me: ASUS ROG, 960m gtx I hope that's helpful!

i dont have a numpad on my keyboard. Is there an option that automatically changes all the numpad shortcuts or i need to do it manually?
@SophieJantak3 жыл бұрын
Ooh I hadn’t considered that. I found this video that shows how to change the numpad shortcuts with 1 button: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mamYg3qjgtSJn5Y and then the pinned comment also suggests how you can look at the side/front/top views (which are really the only ones I personally use) without needing to change shortcuts at all. Hope one of those options can help :)

great tutorial, I see that a lot of strokes "clip" through the first object to snap to the one behind, is there any way to prevent this from happening?
@SophieJantak3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! So yes that happens quite often, haha. I address that at 8:53 , but basically I don't worry about them too much because they stand out so much and I find it easy to select the vertices and delete. Otherwise sometimes I'll hide a mesh if it's really annoying. But that's a good question and I'll add a timestamp for that! Thanks :)

in surface mode my GP would often fly off the objects on the corner of things, is there a step i missed?
@formarjoram3 жыл бұрын
Such a helpful tutorial, thank you!! One question: I know this is probably obvious on the actual blend file, but how do you get the mesh to be invisible in render view? Is it a specific material, or setting, or something else? Thank you again for all your great tips!
@SophieJantak3 жыл бұрын
What do you mean invisible? At this point the meshes have no material so I think they're just white against a white world colour. Is that not what you see? or do you mean something else? But I'm so happy you're finding this helpful!
@formarjoram3 жыл бұрын
@@SophieJantak Ah, yes, thank you, sorry for the confusing question! Yeah, I just meant how the underlying mesh looks grey in the solid view, but then just disappears into the background in render view. I think it's, as you said, just because it's a white material on a white background. I thought maybe it was a transparent material or a holdout or something. Thanks for the info, keep up the great work! :)
