I really like sophos. Had no problems with sophos till now, a thing which i cant say about avast, bitdefender and kaspersky especialy. I really like the fact that the sophos ui is accessible over the internet. Purchased a premium licence and installed it on my pcs, on my parents pc and on my best female friends pc cause i manange their pcs. If there was a false positive , i can recognize that from remote, without being at their Place. I dont notice any slowdown at all, something i cant say about the others and their 100% scores are great too, i liked to watch their security talks @ various conferences too. After a long time not paing for AV this is the first one i paid again and i dont regret it. And most important, Sophos isnt Kaspersky =D Eugene Kaskperskys stance on survailance activities in several states is a big big nogo for me

They surely did think the user experience through. This really IS how the average home PC user would like their antivirus software to behave! It doesn't distract you too much, unlike many other antivirus products, and even allows you to monitor your PC's security remotely. Of course, a web browser is required to manage it on that same PC, but every average user already has one installed. The more advanced users, however, might prefer more flexible control over the antivirus with more local access to its features and finer configuration options.

I see a lot of Bit Defendor vs Kaspersky. While both tools are very convenient and provide in depth analysis. I think it’s important to pause and talk about something that needs reinforcement given the solar winds vulnerability. When an AV has the ability to install without your permission on your entire domain after simply starting the trial. It must be assumed that the AV has access to everything. So TLDR, when we accept convenience, we sacrifice security. Am I saying these tools will be breached? Not necessarily, but what I am talking about is the fact that we have inherently invited foreign actors onto our domain. Without getting to wild with conspiracy theories, I want to remind everyone that the professionals we pay to make AV software are in fact professional hackers. This on the surface makes sense, because who better to stop a criminal than a criminal. But when it comes to BitDefendor vs Kaspersky, I feel I must remind everyone that Kaspersky is both a foreign company which cannot be controlled and they also access your data from across the globe. BitDefendor is owned by Halliburton which can be seen plain as day if you’re watching your packets when you start the app. While I hate to involve politics, Halliburton did kind of squeeze the US government for over 35 Billion in contracts through out the second gulf war aka the war in Iraq. That makes them the Walmart of war which on the surface sounds bad ass, until you remember that you just let the Walmart of war have open range on your domain. Just a few thoughts given that I sadly sit up and run reports to see just who the eff is slamming my servers at 4 in the morning. Fans kicking up, turning the house into a sauna. Watch your wire people and props if you made it this far into my golden monkey fueled rant

I've been using Sophos Home for like a year and a half, no troubles and no issues with it. At time stamp 9:07, Wastedlocker, was this part of the network share files that were run in the beginning? Interesting that the Ransomware component wasn't able to block, I'd assume with the Malware component enabled then Wastedlocker would have been blocked. Keep up the great videos.

@@randomuser4838 Sophos Home Free relies mainly on signatures to detect malware. It has behavioral detection, but lacks the Premium version’s advanced module. The free version also can't protect your files from being encrypted if it fails to detect and block the ransomware. Kaspersky Security Cloud Free's ‘System Watcher’ module provides ransomware protection at least equal to Sophos Home Premium.

On paper from test results, it's very close between the 2, arguably Kaspersky has the better behavior blocker but the signatures are virtually as good as each other with each adding ones before the other. It really comes down to use case, for example, comparing paid vs paid I went with Sophos as I manage several systems, and the cost of Sophos premium is much less than Kaspersky combined with up to 10 devices (as opposed to 3) and remote management made it much more suited for my use. for free vs free, Kaspersky IMO has the better protection as there isn't anything missing really from the paid version regarding protection (you lose the firewall and payment protection although personally, I'd recommend using a dedicated firewall or firewall software rather than the one built into the AV as they are generally better and have more control with a hardware one being best in all cases when used effectively. and many AV's firewalls are just a frontend for windows firewall but I'm not certain in Kaspersky's case but I can find out) whereas Sophos you lose the specific ransomware protection plus one or 2 other features, however again if you manage multiple desktops then Sophos is the better option as the free allows you to manage up to 6 endpoints whereas Kaspersky it's 1. TL;DR paid protection is pretty much equal but the one to use depends on the use case. if you want to pay or want multiple devices free go Sophos. if you want free for 1 device with better overall free protection go kaspersky. Hope this helps you :) I have used both software over the last 10 years or so for reasonable stints with Sophos now being for 3 years consecutively and weirdly the price has dropped each year so far from £55 to £44 to £35 approx

Yes, it can decrypt SSL traffic if you turn it on, it's off by default. You can select execptions for decryption for health, finance etc. categories or exclude websites by domain.

I have a doubt. Everytime I sync my Google Chrome account, all my antivirus get like 42 PUP. files. I don´t know if they are dangerous but I have had my passwords hacked before. It is an intelligent. But the four hardware boxes I invested in all have the ridiculous flaw you cannot monitor the wan with dropped connections. Why they do not leave this with the option to log have no ideas. Many have said you can get around it but you cannot. Some wan dropped information shows if you add a rule but if you add any other firewall in front of it you immediately see the traffic dropped that is not logged. So after 4 boxes moved on...

Hey, Sansevieria Future Solution downloaded it self on my computer when I tried to download something completely else. I had windows defender activated, and I deleted Sansevievieria via control panel. After that I deleted everything from recycle bin. I'm a user of Sophos and i have to say that i wasn't(very)impressed by the product ,since i encountered a similar behaviour with Malwarebytes that i've also been using . Specifically , a PC was infected by malware and although Sophos was blocking it whenever it was trying to execute , nevertheless ,it was unable to remove the threat from the PC. I had a similar experience with Malwarebytes in the past , so i wasn't impressed from the way Sophos was trying to deal with the threat. (*i've said many times in this channel that Malwarebytes instead of removing , it was constantly kept blocking a threat , which was trying to execute itself every few seconds. *This had resulted an endless loop of execute/block which leaded to the PC's RAM/CPU utilization to hit their max-limits within few minutes in every PC-restart* .) The only product which never had problems to deal with such threats was *AVG* , since it has a unique *boot-time scan* , which spots and eliminates any threat before the PC even boots to windows. --P.S. I know that since i'm just an unknown user ,someone who reads my post might think : """where is this guy's proofs """ , *and i would also think the same as well* , but i have kept photos in my archive which can prove that what i mention here is a fact , and if @The PC Security Channel asks , i can contact him through Patreon and send him my photos which can prove what i've said , so if he's interested i'll just be waiting for his reply.

I am a sophos premium user and they / sophos themselves gave me more than 6 months extra subscription because in the beginnings I solved some issues that were AV related. I never recognized your story. Did you contact sophos support? In same cases files or leftovers can not be deleted if you keep the self defense switch on It has an other name but that switch is there so malware will have a very hard time stopping your av. Tried to delete leftovers from within safe emode?? what you see in this video is indeed worth to be looked at by sophos but not a common senario. For me sophos works very well. Maybe changing when subscription ends but for other reasons and there is also a chance to stay. My job is in IT and issue solving for years so just curiious to see what your exact issue is.

Without wanting to mention the exact discussion , i wasn't pleased with the solution they told me , since the solution didn't have to do with their product , instead i was suggested to erase the malware manually by myself(the folder) , something which i tried but i wasn't able to accomplish. *It was much more easier for me to install my trusted AVG back again , and through their boot-time scan , this threat was quarantined and deleted* Through the years AVG has saved me by MANY pc-formats , where Malwarebytes in the past , and now Sophos have failed !! As i said to @PC Security Channel , i have kept photos which can prove that this specific threat wasn't able to be removed by Sophos but it was removed by AVG , and if he wants , i can send him these photos through Discord , Patreon or whatever else. If he's interested i'm waiting for his reply. ---P.S. For me as a user with an obsession to find the best internet security solution ,the experience with Sophos wasn't the most pleasing ,although i begun with very high expectation for this product.(* i have another complain but i don't feel it's necessary to mention it here). So far , AVG has been my most trusted solution , alongside Bitdefender , and next comes Malwarebytes , with Sophos being the last that i would prefer to install in my PC right now (among these AVs that i've used so far)

Sophos Home really slows down my PC. Very disappointed at this product.

It’s a great product, but on my powerful laptop it slows things down too. The CPU readings aren’t high, but the whole experience is “sticky”. Same issue for at least a year on different laptops. I’ve uninstalled it now, it’s a pity.

It really depends on who you trust more with your data. Antivirus software has access to all of your encrypted web traffic, all of your files, and the deep dark parts of your OS. I would investigate both companies and see who you trust more.
