It's a different Clair de lune! The one you're probably thinking of is the piano piece also by Debussy! Clair de lune just means moonbeam...there's another different setting by Debussy as well as ones by Fauré, etc.! :D #TheMoreYouKnow

"Clair de lune" is a French poem written by Paul Verlaine in 1869. It is the inspiration for the third and most famous movement of Claude Debussy's 1890 Suite Bergamasque, so in a sense, the piano solo version also had words. Debussy also composed two settings of the poem for voice and piano accompaniment. The poem has also been set to music by Gabriel Fauré and Josef Szulc.

For clarification-- This is not the same composition as the piano piece named Clair de Lune. While they are both written by Debussy and have the same name they ARE NOT the same piece! Please research before complaining that it sounds different than the piano version.

It's perfectly reasonable for most people to be puzzled - Clair de Lune is one of the most well known compositions in all classical music. This is unknown even to many classical fans. The fault is with the uploader, not the commenters.

This is Gabriel Fauré, not Debussy. Both have a "Clair de Lune," but Debussy's is not scored for voice.

It is Debussy, from the " Chansons de jeunesse " ! He even wrote an other melody with this text. So yes, Debussy's Clair de lune is also for voice, twice ^^ And this doesn't sound like Fauré at all...

Her legato is insufficiently pursued, she chops the French where it shouldn't be. However, I am NOT a Yende "hater," I saw her give a memorable Zauberflote . . .And the vocal "weight" and type in this song is perfect for her. Wish I could coach her!

@@Cebo88 You Americans are so terrible at taking criticism, take it easy, why worry about someone pointing out something wrong with the French articulation. It isn’t a lack of respect and actually shows that he cares about the corrections in the music, and might well greatly admire her singing. I find her musicality wonderful, extremely beautiful, but it’s entirely normal to have technical problems and you shouldn’t become like a hedgehog when someone criticizes something and it can be inspiring given for the singer to read. I understand in America it is encouraged to only make compliments, but that is pretty superficial and in a sense it is even less respectful because you’re not trying to help anyone sincerely. Anyway, with love.
