Noone on the show just openly disrespected Paulie, beating up on Little Paulie wasnt about trying to start something with his uncle. Everyone knew how dangerously unstable and greedy Paulie was. Little Paulie wasnt a civilian either, he did disrespect Chris badly by breaking in his father in laws store and he went too far in insinuating Eugene was gay, Little Paulie started the whole thing anyway by making fun of someone's girl then he went way too far with the gay stuff toward a made guy. Even Vito knew what was coming. Tony sure took Paulie's side when Chris made him pay for dinner, disrespecting him. And Chris had to pay all of Little Paulie's medical, a chunk. To say everyone thought Paulie was a joke and beat up on his nephew to prove it is not accurate at all.

Uncle Junior is really named Carado Soprano - he was named after his own father (Tony's grandfather). It's common in American family's where a son is named after his father, they will be referred to as Senior & Junior - so Carado Soprano Senior (for the father) & Carado Soprano Junior (for the son) - which leads to him being called Junior Soprano as a shorthand nickname by his friends and family (who will have known Carado Soprano Senior - calling him Junior Soprano is simply a way of distinguishing between two close relatives who have the same name). And as Tony's father was Carado's brother he is actually Tony's Uncle - which is why Tony calls him "Uncle Junior", instead of "Uncle Carado". In a similar way AJ is really named Anthony Soprano - AJ is short for Anthony Junior, and he's Tony Soprano's son (Tony is short for Anthony - so both Tony & his son, AJ, are really named Anthony Soprano). Mind blowing the level of thought the writers put into this.

Air resistance makes lighter objects fall slower, even though gravity has the same force on every object (9.8m/s I believe). Little Paulie certainly weighs more than broken glass (which is flat and would catch a lot of air) as well as blinds (which are convex and would catch air like sails).
