This scene. The awkwardness about it. Tony trying to tell the guys what happened. The guys not really interested but going along with it anyway. Then Paulie crashes it with arguably the funniest line in the series.
@thegodcalzs2 жыл бұрын
It’s not that they’re not interested, it’s because they don’t know what to say. Because Tony is just talking about things like “the sun” and “the light”. If you’ve done psychedelics before then you understand what he’s trying to say, you can’t really describe it to normal people. If you haven’t experienced psychedelics and you try and tell a bunch of people about it, they’re just going to think you’re nuts.
@meanmreen2 жыл бұрын
They captured this moment perfectly with Silvio's face trying to understand what Tony was saying talking about with the sun coming up. It's like trying to explain an incredible dream to someone who didn't dream it. It is unexplainable, unconveyable, and ultimately and undyingly yours, and yours alone. Great scene.

Can't put into words what a psychedelic experience does to you. It really is like taking a trip somewhere, you come back with an experience that is unexplainable except to others who have done the same thing, and reached similar conclusions during their trip.

There are no conclusions . You fuck up your brain chemistry and quite some end their life permanent in a psych ward because damage sonetimes stays. It was hip in 60s but everyone with a brain should know nowadYs how dangerous it is and that zhere is no " wisdom" or shamanistic world to be found

I never noticed Sil do that expression to Tony before, kind of telling him to stop when he's talking about the sun rising without saying anything. He always had Tony's back. It's great that the producers included this scene in the series. Psychedelics have the power to humble and enchant even the most hardened of criminals with their life-affirming visionary teachings. The 60s Concord Prison Experiment proved psychopharmacologically-assisted-therapy using magic mushrooms dramatically lowered recidivism in convicts after they had served their sentences and were released. The paradigm shift psychedelics brought to the world unsettled the establishment, its modus operandi, and conventions; it was bad for neo-conservative and neo-liberal business and in 1971 President Nixon declared all recreational drugs apart from alcohol illegal and began the so-called War on Drugs, grinding official psychedelic research to a screeching halt.

A good example of harmoniously linking the cosmos (science/material), the human (anthropology) and God (religion/spiritual) lies in the Hermetica, an ancient series of texts purported to have been composed by the ancient Greek/Hellenic Hermes Trismegistus.

You can tell that Tony has way more to say about his trip, but as hes telling the story he thinks better of really getting into it with them just based off initial reactions and responses.
