During Super Bowl LVI, Chevrolet released a halftime commercial for their new electric truck. The commercial is a recreation of The Sopranos title sequence and features Jamie Lynn-Sigler and Robert Iler, and was directed by series creator David Chase himself. In this video, I analyze the connection to the show, as well as any potential hints at what this could mean for the future of the series!

21 years ago (at almost age 40) I finally pursued acting and got my SAG card playing Agent Jongsma in Season 3, episode one. I’m not on social media but was surprised (during Covid) how fan letters found their way to me via my manager/agent… Covid did bring out another age-bracket who had never seen or heard of The Soprano’s. Thank you for this.

The commercial actually shows that Meadow shot Tony in the head when she walked in the diner and AJ helped her plan it to take over their father's empire. It's now showing them as the new duo boss of the NJ crime family, Paulie now takes orders from Van Helsing.

HBO said there's zero talk with Chase that are related to 'The Sopranos', even with his new deal with WarnerMedia. Film projects are a possibility I'd think though. I enjoyed 'MSON' but it definitely felt like Chase was making that film as a prelude to something, and not just his already finished series.

I agree. But Hollywood has become the land of remakes and reboots. They'll take any property that anyone has the slightest bit of nostalgia for and basically ruin it. Canon or not, I gotta say, this is some really good 2022 color grading. If there ever was a sequel, I would have liked David Chase to go with this direction, instead of that dreary Season 6 color grading or even worse, the excrement that Many Saints of Newark was.
@NerdPowerGaming
@NerdPowerGaming 2 жыл бұрын
As much as I appreciate why it's darker, it's honestly pretty distracting at times how - like you said - dreary those later seasons are. Makes me want to watch 1-3 just to get a bit of saturation in there haha. I'll need to rewatch MSoN again to check out how I feel in colour grading terms, I was far too distracted trying to convince my brain I was enjoying what I was watching.
@altrogeruvah
@altrogeruvah 2 жыл бұрын
@@NerdPowerGaming What I liked about S1-3's sepia tone is how it made New Jersey feel warm and hospitable, even though the setting clearly wasn't. It almost felt like a mafia-themed sitcom. I mean, I get why the color grading became darker over time, but if you ask any Sopranos fan, they will all say S1-3 was their best, just for how it felt back then.

for anyone who believes a sequel could happen, it’s laughable. I wrote a potential plot piece awhile ago regarding a sopranos sequel series.. Meadow is now married too pat parisis son and becomes a big time lawyer that defends mob related cases from time too time, AJ is a successful club owner who's in business with Little Carmine and Tony ended up having another child with Carmela which he never met due too him tragically passing while Carmela was pregnant (she was planning too tell tony the night of the diner incident that she was expecting but was never able too). Tonys youngest son is currently a solider in the life and is working his way up to eventually be the boss of the family one day hopefully. The current boss of new jersey is pat parisi and its eventually confirmed in the series that he was the one who planned Tonys hit and when Tony Soprano Jr finds this out from Silvo(who's retired after awaking from a coma but is a BIG mentor too young tony soprano jr). Things go crazy and young Tony recruits guys and builds his own crew and is determined too overthrown Pat Parisi as the ONLY boss in NJ. Will Young Tony be successful? The only question now is what other characters will we see in the show? People that we could see??? (Carmella, Janet, Artie Buco & his wife, Silvio & his wife,Rosaile Aprile,Benny Fazio, Little Pauly,Little Carmine, Agent Harris, Bobby Baccalerli Jr, Larry Boy Barese, Father Phil Intintola, plus guys from Ny and many others) People that we would like too see but I see this as unlikely due too their age or the fact that it just wouldn't make sense possibly (Pauly, Junior, Hesh, Melfi, Carlo, Furio,) but who knows. I think a prequel series would be more interesting considering we already got some Many Saints material but I'd be up for ANYTHING Sopranos related.

It's nice that this touches on Satriale's, but it somehow doesn't bother to mention that the building was torn down in 2007.

Tony never died, people need to get that through their heads. In 2014 David Chase said he did not die and all you said last year is that Tony would have died in someplace like a diner. #TonyLives

The best commercial of the SB and it's not even that great but it still touched me. No way there is coming show or sequel. To do that would be to answer what happened to Tony officially, something I don't think Chase ever wants to do. Part of the allure is that the show ends with that never being made clear (regardless of the clues us fans have that point to he being dead). In fact, doing a show would necessitate he being dead of some cause so could you imagine the lameness of a new show where we learn Tony died of anything but a gunshot at the moment The Sopranos ended? Even if it was a nod to Gandolfini and they said Tony died of a heart attack, it would feel cheap and diminish the original show. Now, if we were to play funtime and imagine what a sequel would be... ...you could technically do it. However, doing it would necessitate it NOT being about the mob, IMO. It would have to be a show that focused on Meadow and AJ like the commercial because any and every nod to the original show would hurt the original show. Like, if they had Sil wake from his coma or some lame BS it would just feel cheap. He and Paulie just sitting around some dark bar being old gangsters would not be as funny as it seems reading it here. Yet, focusing on the kids and Carmella could technically be a decent show. Let us see how they live without the income Tony provided, making it clear that Tony actually didn't leave behind millions to them. Carmella may have to have started working. AJ is just some guy after years of everyone bailing him out in reverence of Tony slowly fades away. AJ is just some laborer or something. Meadow is married with a couple kids herself, etc. Could be good. It'll never happen but that's the only way a sequel could happen and not hurt the original show.

As much as I would love to see what happened after that famous series finale, a sequel wouldn't live up to the original show. I mean, many sequels have blown these past few years. The Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That was terrible honestly.

“Satriale’s: Anti-biotic free”. I guess they finally ran out of The Richie Aprile Special. Anyways, it would be kinda interesting to see a spin-off where Meadow and AJ would reconnect with Aunt Barbara and her family, only to witness their cousins slowly becoming modern reincarnations of Tony and Janice. Just my thoughts.

I like the idea of meadow as azmob lawyer, she could be like camilla vasquez and be great at litigation and destroying witnesses on the stand but be conflicted about the morality of it all and go to therapy, although maybe that would be too unrealistic for a lawyer
