I know I'm a bit late He meant to say "fly in the ointment" which basically means something that is of little or minor irritation. The flying ointment is a witchcraft like medicine that was used back then. Another clever malapropism in the show.

He meant to say fly in the ointment but said flying ointment which was an ointment made of hallucinogenic plants that witches would put on broomsticks and ride them naked which would put them in a delirium and make them think they were flying. Where we get the witch on a broomstick tradition. Quite a hilarious mistake. I think they did it to hint he was high. Nice little reference from the writers, make the show feel more real when the characters make little errors like that. Kind of a coincidence since Tony takes a hallucinogenic plant (Albeit a very different one) in the same episode.
