Yeah but it's obviously going thru a bass rig with cabs designed specifically for bottom end and not necessarily optimized for the dynamics that are required to faithfully recreate the higher eq where the distortion would be found. Even if you have a nasty fuzz pedal on that shit, if it's made for bass guitar specifically it'll be engineered for clarity in the lower register while the higher registers will be overdriven and gnarly but the problem again is that you will not necessarily hear this especially when you're recording through a shitty cellphone mic and it's lost in the mix while the low end is nice and fat as it was intended to be.. If you were there standing in that room you might hear a completely different sound from that bass guitar; that's my guess anyway. I could be wrong. Probably am wrong if my ol lady has it right about me since according to her I'm not ever right EVER so take this opinion for what it is: pure speculation and guessing based solely on empirical experience. Basically worthless.
