@@Drums_of_Liberation Well, it's the Keyblade, not the Master, that does the actual choosing. The Master just presents the prospective wielder to the Keyblade for judgment, so Kairi was still chosen.

Even Jack Sparrow was able to hold it for at least a good minute before it went back to Sora. Unlike say Squall where it immediately returned to Sora after he picked it up. And lest we forget Sora was never truly chosen. He was only able to wield because of Ventus being within him. And the Kingdom Key only went back to him because Riku had fallen so far. And Sora was the next best candidate nearby.

@@Drums_of_Liberation Not debatable. It's been stated by Nomura that that's how it works. The whole Ventus thing was debunked ages ago, again by Nomura. The only thing Sora got from Ven was the second Keyblade he uses when dual wielding (no explanation yet on why he can still do that now even without Ven's heart, but that was the original statement) He was able to wield the Kingom Key because he already had the right qualifications to begin with. He would have had his own if Aqua had gone through with her original plan of giving him the inheritance ceremony. The reason Riku was able to take it so easily is two-fold. It was both because, at that moment, Riku's heart was stronger than Sora's and because the Keyblade was rightfully his to begin with. One could say that. Look up "Kingdom Hearts Info Block", it's got a ton of interviews that explain this stuff.
