This angle is infinitely better than the horizontal one used for Lanzhou and so many other WTT events.

Basically Contender and Feeder events use this diagonal angle, Star contender T1 and Champion and Smash events use the shit angle

Wow, this is the kind of loss which prevents a player from sleeping. Quadri would not sleep, he should have won by three games to zero

he should've, but screwed up big time in game 2. Even Sora gave up at 7-10, but Quadri just started making too many mistakes.

It seems clear that almost every time Matsushima played deep to the backhand and followed it up with a wide angle to the forehand he won the point. It is remarkable he did not use this tactic more often.

I would like to watch more of a passive game of Aruna. What I mean is instead of doing pivot to counter attack ,to stay close to the table and explore the backhand side of his opponent. Unfortunately, he lost some points doing this. Instead of putting the ball on the backhand side, he could have target the elbow. I also would like to watch more a backhand service, specially a long one to his backhand side opponent. Besides, a normal downspin service could give some extra points.

You are right. There is more room for Quadri to better his game. His forehand counter attack is world class, however is passive and service game needs improvement

Crazy how the japanese lad never receive short. Receives long and ready to counter. Mental!

Add heavy sidespin along with your topspin and backspins serve, and Mr. Aruna will be totally confused 😅

WOW great match, Sora even gave up at 7-10 on game 2, but his relaxed play allowed Quadri to make all those mistakes. So good to see a Matsushima on the big stage, going toe-to-toe with legends like Aruna. Maybe we'll see baby Aira soon too.

Just shows topspins are all about placement. Qadri was able to anticipate almost all of the placements of Sora's open-ups.

@@carrementmec6772Maybe because Aruna steps around more to use his forehand. 16 year old Matsushima has a good backhand already

0:33 Aruna points out the blatant foul on the serve. I'm not usually one to complain, and I would respect the umpire's decision in this situation, BUT I think the serve problem has been running rampant for far too long. Using the body to conceal spin and direction of the serve is not a part of today's game (I am not saying it was not a part of the teble tennis of old). I think this rule should either be strictly enforced or redefined.

Aruna was pointing at the ball because he thought it nicked the edge. I didn't like Matsushima's serve though. Not Wang Chuqin level of body blocking but still annoying form.

Aruna’s been losing the same way every time. He’ll start very strong then opponent beats him easily by putting the ball to his forehand side while he’s on the backhand corner to play his forehand. He’s way too slow to play one side of the table.

Sure did that the hard way, but still an excellent win! Matsushima cannot let Aruna have the first loop and survive the attacks. Matsushima backhand banana should prevent that as Aruna has to guess the placement and his footwork is dodgy. At least that's what I thought should happen before the match started.
