Don't forget Wang Yibo's acting is amazing too! Its just that the way they express their acting is different. Wang Yibo's character is hard to act too, while being cold and expressionless, he has to be able to show Lan Zhan's emotions and attitude through his eyes and very detailed small changes in expressions. He cannot be as open as Xiao Zhan, and must be alert and controlled, in character at all times, in how he does his body language and says his words.

It is an emotional roller coaster. An addiction I still crave but know I can't bear to watch it again yet. I read the book after and had to skip over sections like coffin town's empathy because its too painful still. Its the first show i've ever seen where my mind immediately wanted to erase itself and watch the whole thing over again for the first time. Like a little kid getting off a thrill ride yelling "Again! Again!" I'm glad I got to see it.

I think apart from great drama plot, director and filming crew, the BIGGEST AND MAIN reason why this is SUCH an amazing drama is the main 2 characters, and their irreplaceable chemistry!! Many focus on XZ and say how Xiao Zhan's acting is amazing, but pls don't forget Wang Yibo's acting is amazing too! Its just that the way they express their acting is different. Wang Yibo's character is hard to act too, bc while being cold and expressionless, he has to be able to show Lan Zhan's emotions and attitude through his eyes and very detailed small changes in expressions. There were so many different sides to Wei Wuxian, Xiao Zhan showed so many different emotions in that role and overall W W's character was so unique that I truly doubt any other actor would have been able to play that character quite as well as Xiao Zhan did. As for what you saw as overacting in the cheerful parts, that kind of acting is pretty usual for the Asian comedic genre, just in this case it's done better than most.

All casts were very good actors, XZ and Yibo were great! Although, the book plotted them as such, I see it a good friendship on and off the camera. Yibo and XZ have a pure heart, good brotherly bond where they're comfortable with each other. It is unfortunate that on their real life there are people with malicious minds tinted a good friendship with their twisted interpretations just because they're both male. What they are and how they are were the reasons I admired, followed and loved them more, not just for their looks. Pure love for best friends should not see the color, sexual, and familial orientation of the person. Be comfortable, be yourself! Count your blessings if you have such kind of friendship!

I am so impressed with the production. The costume is super amazing especially the black+red of Wei Ying's. The cinematography is beautiful and stunning especially the Lotus Pier. Zhan Ge is so perfect for Wei Ying's role. I was surprised to have found out that Yi Bo was denied the role twice until the casting manager met him in person. The movie's success also because of the BTS clips showing the chemistry in real life between Bo+Zhan. I know that I enjoy them as much as the movie itself.
