The absolute humility of this man, calling out "flaws" in his own game... never seen a game dev so meticulous of their work, it's cool to see what he'd have done differently if not limited by a company.

Super Star was the first game I can ever remember playing, and it has a very special place in my heart, thank you Sakurai.

I'm a big fan of Super Star, and this video was super interesting to me. Like seeing how Making a helper would have drained some health is weird to me since you do it so naturally in the final game. I guess Sakurai was applying his risk reward formula to that aspect of the game since two characters is pretty strong, although iirc having two characters leaves them with less overall health compared to a single player which helps balance it. And the Kagero mansion subgame sounds like it would have been awesome and challenging with not using Kirby's mouth based abilities. Sakurai's game making stories are always so interesting to me

My older brother and I went at this game hard as kids. We would play it so often, mainly with him as Kirby and me as Player 2. I was never bothered by it much, as I made use of my role with all the various characters and never having to worry about death as much since Kirby could revive me by giving up a power. As such, I made myself the shield for my brother to ensure Kirby didn't die.

Kirby Super Star is one of my top favorite Kirby games of all time and the graphics still hold up to this day! Like the backgrounds themselves feels so nostalgic for me. Thank you for that!

Whatever Sakurai talks about his Kirby games developments i feel like he's very happy and proud of his job, and rightfully Kirby is probably one of those character that everyone loves and the series untill today has no truly bad games

My first video game ever and will always have fond memories of it. I still play it from time to time. The experience is truly timeless! Thank you, Mr. Sakurai and your team at the time for your amazing work. Kirby Superstar really shaped who I am as a person and as a video game player.

This video was so good! Seeing how wild and uncharted everything was at the time, how developers tried to navigate through it, and seeing Sakurai-Sensei attempting to contain his exasperation from Miyamoto-San's quick request leaving a devastating blow, like a single side attack at 300% damage. This is gold.

This was my favorite game ever for a long time. We had so much playing this game in co-op with a friend. I remember especially that part where you could copy that wheel. Then you turned it into a friend and kirby could sit on top of it and throwing little stars. Thank you Mr. Sakurai for so much hours of fun on this game back then!

It's really true, you are your own worst critic. The backgrounds look amazing and still hold up to this day in my opinion.

It too found it weird with the background. Found it stale and weird unlike Donkey Kong since Donkey was not not of place because he too was CG 2D.

I remember those Macintosh computers. It's so strange to think that some of my favorite games were made with such relatively primitive technology. Today we have emulators, flash memory, network shares... but back then you had EPROM, expensive hardware debuggers, and very little space.

The Lead/Support system in Kirby is great for playing with younger siblings who want to feel like their helping you win but aren’t that good at playing XD
