Another perfect video. I was puzzled at first as to how the follow-through as opposed to the startup animation could emphasize weight, given that some of the heaviest feeling attacks have a lot of startup frames, such as Ike and Dedede's side smashes. The follow-through, however, definitely emphasizes the weight of attacks, though you have to use the startup and attack animations to get them there. A great example of this is Wario's side smash. Having his foot raised in the air is something only in the follow-through that does a great job expressing the weight of the move, but it needed to be initiated at the start of the move to express it. I'm creating a stage-play, and the process is very similar to Smash Bros, not only in how the "camera" of Smash Bros and the view of an audience in a theater are generally the same, but also in terms of conveying character and movement through animation. I've been showing your animation-focused videos to the choreographers and actors to help express how to really move as animated characters would. Additionally, did anyone notice the brilliant editing touch at 2:35 ? The music starts to fade out not after Palutena's attack, but before, allowing us to more easily recognize that the segment is ending. Many segments in previous Smash Bros presentations have had this detail, too, which makes me wonder how much input Sakurai has on the editing of this series even with a third party acting as editor.
