I live in Montreal and let me tell you, the Greek life is on! Specially at McGill university. I am in a sorority called zeta lambda zeta (it’s a francophone sorority). Sororities don’t have houses here for the most part and , at the university of Montréal , we don’t have the big Panhellenic rush. We do have a rush but it’s not like the NPC!

This makes me feel more comfortable about rush!! My school has three chapters because sororities aren’t huge at our school, but it makes my decision easier!! Super excited 💕

Can sophomores do spring recruitment too or do they have a better chance at getting in during informal recruitment?
@SarahBo5 жыл бұрын
“Better chance” is hard to define because you can’t really say if you’ll do better in informal or not. However, informal rush is only open to sophomores and up, so you won’t get cut because of rank alone. Informal is starting to wind down however. My (formal) PC actually had a good amount of sophomores in it, and I know some sophomores looking to do formal this year too!! It does effect you a little bit with rankings in houses, just because Freshmen are more preferred (they can pay 4 years worth of dues) but in most cases it’s not make or break. I would definitely recommend formal if your considering it. Being a sophomore isn’t as big of a deal compared to being a Junior. :) Hope that helps!

i live in the netherlands and hazing is actually legal here. there are rules tho. so it's kinda a good and a bad thing. i think it happens more because it's legal, but it's not as bad as what i hear from the us because it doesn't happen underground. still against it tho because it's not fun believe me.. lol
@alaynahernandez854 жыл бұрын
Helena wow, that’s crazy. what type of stuff do they have y’all do?
@Helena-qq7td4 жыл бұрын
@@alaynahernandez85 really depends a lot of what association you wanna be a part of. i can only speak for mine. we knew up front what days and how many we were getting the 'get to know each other days' (hazing), and there was a whole information session about what they were and weren't allowed to do. just a lot of getting screamed at and making you do silly things. but there is a zero alcohol rule, and they're not allowed to touch you or anything. (rules that were made by the government because of people dying in the past) they say going through it makes you get a better bond with the others, but i really think it's bullshit. it's a great icebreaker ofcourse lol, but what makes you get the bond is seeing each other every week and eating together and having fun. looking back on it there are parts i can laugh at because everything is so weird. but it's cruel to haze people and just sadisic in my eyes. i know for a fact some places don't follow the rules, or try out these loopholes like "you can't make people eat things they don't want" so they make you think you are not gonna get in if you don't eat the 15 cloves of garlic, so it was your own choice to eat it and they didn't 'make' you do anything... an nasty old tradition we just can't seem to shake. sorry for the literal novel, lol.

Hey Sarah I am fourth year right now and want to try out requirement. I saw a comment down below about someone wanting to rush and being a sophomore, and you said that it isn't a big deal compared to if you where a junior. Well I'm a senior, and that kind of has me worried. I'm not graduating next year, I still have about 1 and half years to go because I switched my major. Would you recommend I still rush even tho I'm a 4th year but still have over a year and half of schooling left?

in your own words, what is a sorority and what is hazing?
