The stream quietly babbling and beautiful behind my dad's trailer in black mountain took it all away. He lost vehicles, motorcycles, a camper, even my mother's ashes. Everything he worked so hard for his whole life. Now, he's 80 and facing starting over. His girlfriend lived in Old Fort and she lost her house and everything, too. WNC will never be the same. So grateful my dad and she are okay but so many others weren't as lucky. In Burke County, we took a beating, too, but nothing compared to the other nightmares. Prayers for our beautiful region and her people. I'm just heartbroken.
