Hello, before you start fishing, you can try tying your fishing line to a tree or something, release about half your line, and tug on it to try to get rid of the line memory. Good luck 👍

Hey, it's great to see a fellow Manitoban and on a lake that I can actually fish. I'm new to paddle boarding, and just starting to explore the idea of fishing from my board.

Do yourself a favor and run braided line as your main line and fluorocarbon as a leader, unless you are actively fishing for pike or musky, then you might want to use a solid or stranded leader. If you are fishing for bass, walleye or other smaller game fish that don't have teeth, Fluorocarbon is your best bet for a leader. Braided line doesn't form a "line memory", so you will not have to worry about it coming off the reel in the spirals. I live in Michigan, and I pretty much fish for everything that swims, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will try to give you some advice that will help you put more fish your creel. :)

I have that but I added a lot of floro to the end haha I had a snap swivel on but it was getting stuck it the rod holes I will definitely give the tree trick a try that sounds amazing

@@Reelsoverheels A good rule of thumb for your leader length is to make it roughly between 10" and 2 feet. I am not sure what length that is in Metric, but that's the lengths to look up. lol. Oh and don't worry about your feet being in the water, they make fishing inter tubes that you use with swim fins, and I know people who catch lots of fish using those.

I wish we had more of a variety of fish in our inland waters here in Newfoundland especially the big pikes. I wish I knew mushrooms as well would be nice to be able to forage then. Great video, relaxing informative, and as long as I rotated the phone a few times you were upright lol. Hope you have a great weekend and Tight Lines.

Awe thanks so much!! What type of fish do you have around you?! I wish I knew mushrooms more too lol, but all I know is some make good kindle and others make good pictures hahah thanks for being a sport and rolling with the punches haha! I’ll keep in mind going forward to have the phone only on the right or left and no swaps

@@Reelsoverheels we have speckled trout, brown trout, rainbow trout and ouananiche (land lock salmon), and Salmon in the rivers. Browns are limited to the east coast of the province. Now salt water fishing we have some large cod, we had a successful cod fishing in July the season only opens on the weekends, we also have mackerel in the Salt water in some areas as they migrate around the province.

Fun fact of the day Large mouths bass are colorblind. They can only see red and green. Everything else is Gray to them. chartreuse looks like a shad And Smallies. love exotic type colors. I didn't believe it but but up. Where, I'm at in upstate New York. The water is clear and they like black-and-blue chartreuse. Just about any color that's bright like chartreuse or something. But I've been having really good luck imitating Minnows and stuff. You just gotta imitate what they're eating crawfish. Minnows senko's work good. But good luck to you and your fishing. You're doing amazing. You just gotta do what works for you. Don't let people tell you what you're using is wrong. Try it out and if it doesn't work, try something new that's what I do.

Wow I didn't know that about largemouth bass!! Thank you for sharing I really appreciate the info. I'm going to have to sit down and figure out what I want to go after this weekend Butni was told of two good lakes to try so perhaps they will have smallies and I can try those colour patterns! I really hope to get to the fishin hole and grab more gear! I'll keep your comments in mind though thank you for that, I'm still happy to try out new things like funky mix and matching hehe!! Happy fishing!!

Next trip to your tackle shop get a can of Blakemore’s Line and Reel Magic. A little spritz on your line keeps the line supple. Works really well on braid.

@@Reelsoverheels 15 - 18 lb test should work. Look on your rod and reel see what lb test works best. Braid does tend to bite into itself. Don’t overthink this. To save money leave about 1/3 of your old line on the reel. Tie your new braid onto the old line. It’s called backing. Fill your spool leaving about an 1/8 of inch or even a bit more off the spool. Your line will come off easier. Hope this helps. Keep your drag tight. Sorry I didn’t answer your question. Without knowing your budget I would not go crazy. A couple small spinnerbaits and small crank baits. If you can match your crank baits with the molts of crayfish that would be huge!

Don't know if you noticed, 1st half of your video is upside down. There is even free video edit software, that will allow you to rotate the video, VideoProc Converter AI, etc.

We pretty much have the same fish species here in Minnesota. Ive yet to catch a sturgeon or even a muskie lol but the walleye,bass & are plentiful. Oh, and even the sometimes 'pesky' Pike. Lol Not sure what you use to upload your videos, but try using the 'Quik' app to figure out how to rotate your vids upright before uploading.

Just trail your line behind the boat as you paddle, with no lure. The twist will remove itself

I noticed your spinnerbaits are full size. If your water temps are high try smaller spinnerbaits with no trailer worm. Fish get hot like us. Throwing a smaller bait will usually get a strike easier and lighter meal so to speak. Or it will be anger strike. Warm temps and cooler temps before winter go small.
@Reelsoverheels

Oh thank you!! All of mine are so huge lol I need more small ones! I’ll take your tip and the other comments colour recommendations to pick this lure out ❤ you guys rock! Thanks for your advice, tight lines! 🤙🏻

@@Reelsoverheels Nice, good luck. No trailer worm. If the bass short strike you may be retrieving to fast. Or the bass are not hungry. Now you need to cause an anger strike. They will eat it to get rid of it. If that failed throw a purple worm. If that doesn’t work, the fish don’t like you, lol. If you get a lot of short strikes you can try a trailer hook. Have fun enjoy your new toys. Keep your drag tight.
