4:45:39 fun(?) fact. The reason the fire nation focused so hard on wiping out the southern water benders while leaving the north basically untouched is because the avatar cycle actually takes into account if the last water bending avatar was born in the north or the south. So the fire nation knew that’s where the next avatar would pop up if aang died without them ever finding him
@douley204boomin33 ай бұрын
Another fun(?) fact hama is indirectly the reason why kataras mom was killed seeing how she blood bend the guards when they came back to the south they knew that place to be one that could birth water-benders powerful enough to blood bend and since they didn’t want a repeat of hama they didn’t take prisoners instead just killed them.

6:35:54 Thing is, Yangchen and Aang are about 400 years removed from each other and she was from a time where Air Nomad culture was thriving. She wasn’t in the position of being the sole air nomad left alive to ensure that culture lived on. Aang has to do so and only having lived through any rites, rituals, just… everything up to 12 years old. He’s lucky enough to be able to recreate the ceremony of becoming an airbending master from personal experience just because he happened to become the youngest master in history at that point. There’s so much he won’t be able to be taught or guided through by those who came before him because now he’s the only one left to pick up the pieces. To kill the Fire Lord as the only one left to uphold what it means to be an Air Nomad is, I think in his mind, basically akin to letting the genocide of his people and their ways be competed. It would completely defeat everything Aang stands for as an Air Nomad and a person. Killing Ozai is the smart thing, but it’s not the only answer. It’s debatable if it’s not the right thing to do specifically for Aang even because of how directly affected the world of Avatar is by spiritual turmoil. Anyone else killing Ozai… I wouldn’t be mad for sure. But Aang wanting to find a way to defeat him without killing him? 100% on board with that. It also seems like rather than speaking objectively from their experiences well… in the end the Avatars are human. For all their talk of seeing the bigger picture and duties to the world, the things they tell Aang are based on their regrets and not from the objective truth of the world they lived in. They were still people who made choices and those choices will always be informed first and foremost by themselves as individuals. Aang, funny enough, knows his duty is to the world but also doesn’t want to compromise or put away himself as an individual. Instead, he chooses the harder to find path to his solution.

During the Blood Bending episode, you guys touched upon how benders can have other materials, like water/blood eatch/metal. The other thing I drew fromt his episode was the variance in style between different bending types. Normally water benders are very flowy and smooth with their bending style, but after Katara has spent enough time with Toph, she picked up inspiration from the earth bending style and it is shown when she fights the old blood bending woman, instead of diverting the water attack, she holds her ground and stops the attack right in its tracks, which is very earth style. I think material aside, there are ways to manipluate the styling of other types of bending to use with your own.

Exceptionally cool detail I noticed on this rewatch of avatar the last airbender: Do you remember how Jong Jong teaches Aang firebending and worries about being too destructive with his fire burning everything down? Notice when the White Lotus are attacking Ba Sing Se, Jong Jong has those huge fire columns powered by the comet? The ones he launches down large streets packed with fire nation tanks? HE'S BEING MINDFUL OF HOW EASILY HIS COMET POWERED FIRE BENDING COULD BURN DOWN THE CITY AND THE CIVILIAN BUILDINGS. HIS FIGHTING STYLE IS CONSISTENT WITH HIS CONCERN ABOUT HIS "BURNING CURSE". IT'S NOT JUST MEERLY AN AMAZING SHOW OF FIRE BENDING BUT A DELICATE, SURGICAL USE OF HIS FIRE TO BOTH BLOCK INCOMING FIRE VERTICALLY AND MINIMIZE DAMAGE TO THE SURROUNDINGS BY NOT LETTING HIS FIRE BURN THE BUILDING LINING THE STREET OMGGGGG the attention to detail and the love of these characters is so apparent i love this show ❤❤

Zuko is also using moves from every bending style, really taking Iroh's advice to heart, "It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale." He evaded like an airbender, he used a wide stance and faced an attack head on like an earthbender, and he redirected lightning, which was inspired by waterbending.

The writer for the comics did not like Mai and Zuko so he pretty much immediately got them broken up in his official Avatar the last airbender comic.

You guys should watch the "How To Train Your Dragon" series. It might be confusing to binge. Since season 1 is called "Dragon: Riders of Berk", and season 2 is called "Dragons: Defenders of Berk". Then seasons 3 - 8 are called "Dragons: Race to the Edge". The entire show is split between multiple different streaming platforms as well. It's a hassle.

I do appreciate the love and dedication you put into this video. But the three of you please take better care of your visual health. The last two hours of the video you were rubbing your eyes just to be awake. Take care of yourselves my handsome dudes.

Watched it all! Best 7 hour commitment i've made in a while hahaha. I loved your guy's reactions and I agree, this is one of the best series of all time. For me though, it's not just the writing, actors/actresses, and budget, but the worldbuilding. To come up with the idea of their being 4 elements that each have multiple sub-elements and each fighting style for all the different elements are based off of different martial arts, plus the clothing and culture for each country, the idea of the Avatar and how it works. To me, this feels like a group of DnD nerds came together to all play as the Dungeon Master (DM) and built their ideas off of each other. All the different animals combinations is also incredible! This show, is just perfect. At first, I didn't like Legend of Korra (the next show), but after a while it grew on me. Not many reaction channels enjoy the show, but there are a few that understand what the idea for the show was and enjoy it once they realize that, which I think you guys will be like that too. Without spoilers, it is focused on an industrialized version of ATLA and each season is focused on a different attribute the Avatar has to focus on, rather than a different element to learn. The show deals with depression, PTSD, fear, overcoming internal weakness, feminism, LGBTQ+, and other topics. Which is good for a teenage (high school/college) viewing. ATLA is amazing because little kids could watch it (maybe skip a few episodes), teenagers, yound adults, adults, elderly, every age group can watch this show and see it from a different perspective. I do not think Legend of Korra is like that, but it is still really good and you should definitely check it out.

Watched this show through dozens of times still seeing new things every time so I’ve known how zuko and aangs life’s are yin and Yang parallel but I just realized when zuko gets struck by lightning trying to save katara he has a lightning scar on his stomach right where aang has one on his back wow I can’t believe I’ve never seen that

Unfortunately i don't know the name of the comic but there was a comic that came out after the show that tells the tale of what happens after zuko asks about what happened to his mother if you want to read it to get the closure
