Some nice insights. In addition to 1:15.00 The freedom of conscience was codified in the Union of Utrecht, 2 years before the Declaration of Independence. It was the Dutch answer to the religion question forced upon them by the Spanish king, it was a very difficult to reach compromise so that might explain why no one touched it despite some pretty fanatic religious people in power sometimes. On keeping knowledge secret: About half of Europe's books were printed in the Dutch Republic, also because of it's lack of censorship. It was a big industry so there must also have been a very direct financial incentive not keep knowledge secret.

I love your videos. Seriously, this is one of the best things about KZbin... the sciences, arts and museums. Would you consider staggering the releases of your videos? One a day over four days. Dropping four at a time makes it harder to watch (a lot of people watch them as and when they appear on the timeline and don't ever go backwards to investigate if they've missed one (or three)) them all.
