Araragi does not get to return to being a human and must now live on keeping his master alive because he doesn't want her to die. To copy a section from a very long analysis I once wrote on this amazing trilogy: This movie perfectly summarizes why Kiss-Shot/Shinobu is my favorite character in the franchise. One thing to note is that, for a movie trilogy that is supposed to focus on her, she actually doesn’t have a tremendous amount of direct interaction with Araragi apart from in Kizu 3. This is why Kizu 3 is one of my favorite anythings not just in this franchise, but in media: the amount of trust and respect that blossoms between these two, even as they fight to their gruesome deaths at the end, is something which I have almost never seen before. Their relationship is incredibly unique in that, no matter who holds the advantage in physical power at any moment in time, they treat each other as peers and equals, to the point where they are willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of one another despite their existence as natural enemies. Araragi is willing to give himself up to save Kiss-Shot in Kizu 1, and Kiss-Shot attempts to reciprocate at the end of Kizu 3 simply because, in her 500 years, no one has ever shown her that kind of vulnerability and mercy. Both Araragi and Kiss-Shot start the Kizu trilogy as distinctly lonely figures - neither of them holds the capability to trust other people. Kiss-Shot’s only ever friend committed suicide after being turned to vampirism hundreds of years ago, which would obviously take such a huge psychological toll on a person, oddity or not. And Kizu 1 begins with Araragi claiming that having friends only leads to hurt when those friends suffer; thus, he has distanced himself from everyone in his life before Hanekawa barges into it. The two are direct parallels of one another, and by the end of Kizu 3, their fates are so intimately intertwined to the point where they cannot exist apart from each other.

"The pain of a friend is my pain too." And then you know what whenever Araragi is hurt, Shinobu feels that pain -- only, in this case, she literally feels his physical pain. Just one more symbolism. Nisemono is a direct sequel to Bakemono. There is one more prequel before Bake and after Kizu (Nekomonogatari: Kuro) though. To answer the questions about the title, monogatari does mean story, and most of the titles are puns. Bakemono means monster, so a good translation would be Monstory. Kizu just translates to wound on its own, so there’s no pun there as far as I understand it. For the next section, Nisemono means impostor or fake. So we are coming up on the Impostory. I find it funny that Jacob was a pretty hardcore Senjo fan and now he’s jumped ship. It felt like they were struggling to understand bake, and not really enjoying it. I’m glad they liked the movies so much, looks like they’re starting to get a hang of the series. Though, they still seemed to misunderstand some bits. I always thought the snapshot of Hanekawa near the end was actually her getting a headache, hinting at her future cat problems. It even used the same sound effect. Oshino definitely didn’t steal Kiss-shot’s heart 400 years ago. Even if he is future Araragi like they think, I don’t see it making any sense that he would steal her heart that far back. The whole “I couldn’t” line was more meant to show that Kiss-Shot wasn’t willing to die for him. Still, love the reactions. Nise is up next, can’t wait.
@jacobkrawczyk47725 жыл бұрын
You're definitely right about Hanekawa - you can even see the slightly pained expression she makes at the end. And when Kiss-Shot said that the her from back then was incapable it's certainly referring to her not being understanding or "good" enough of a person to do so. I'm glad they're beginning to understand this series better, but it is still frustrating that they occasionally misinterpret some key elements. One of the big things that bothers me is how hevily they lean into the assumption that Shinobu is manipulating him - specifically supernaturally. It's funny because she actually was manipulating him in some respects, but it wasn't with charm or supernatural ability, rather it was her long term plan to be killed by him. The first big instance of their misunderstanding was the crying in Kizu 1, which they interpreted as a ploy when in reality she was legitimately scared and vulnerable - and they seemed to carry that into this movie. The other problem is they undercut the relationship between the two with this idea, making it harder to see how much they actually care for each other.

copy-paste: I think they cut this conversation in the adaptation so I would like to share this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since it seemed there was still time until the bell rang, I and Hanekawa talked a little bit in that place. Of course the topic was vampire related. Hanekawa taught me something out of her vast stock of knowledge about vampires. "Well, it's only a theory." She premised. "Vampires suck human blood -- however, the implication changes completely whether they suck blood for a meal or whether they suck it in order to create a subordinate." "Yeah, I don't know if it was from the person herself or from Oshino, but I think I heard it." "A meal, well it's a meal, but creating a subordinate somehow seems to be something akin to a sexual act." "Se-Sexual act?" "Seriously." Said Hanekawa. "They say appetite and sexual desire resemble each other. Besides, following that line of thinking, isn't it clear why a vampire doesn't want that much to create a subordinate? In 500 years -- she had two subordinates. I don't know much about vampire's idea of chastity, but she has been a virtuous woman." [1] "Virtuous?" "I think her first subordinate was her lover." A rule of not creating a subordinate-- That's how they described it to me. A virtuous -- vampire. Even if they are about to die, they aren't inclined to save themselves by making a subordinate -- was it? Then. In which occasion do they create subordinates? That was the question. "......But weren't they human and vampire?" "That's why she turned him into a subordinate, didn't she? The existence of vampire halves could be said to attest to those sort of couplings...... although the circumstances were a bit different, I suppose. At any rate, this was just a conjecture. However, it's for this reason that she tried to redo what she did at that time, I think -- as an atonement." "An atonement--" She couldn't turn the first subordinate back into a human. Therefore she added a second, me, to the first. Might have been. "She didn't want to be killed by the three vampire exorcists though -- what she really meant by having found her place to die, maybe was the fact she met with you. When she met -- with the second subordinate." "A place to die -- huh." "Thinking about it, at the time when she almost lost her vampire abilities by turning you into a subordinate -- at that time when she lost her bloodsucking ability, perhaps she was already prepared to starve to death. If a vampire can't suck blood, she dies." "Well......, that's true." "But in order to turn you back into a human, she couldn't let herself starve to death." "......Last night, at the beginning she invited me to live together for eternity...... I don't know what she planned to do if I accepted her invite." "Well, that's precisely what would have happened, isn't it?" "Precisely." "Even if a person cannot live alone, two people can." "............" "Two people is better than one, just two of you is better than three -- something like that. That sort of thing."

Shinobu was ready to kill herself so long ago. The story would've ended differently if Araragi didn't tell her that they should've eaten something first before turning him back to human. Araragi has also been forgetting the fact that she's a vampire since she has always been a kid to his eyes who needed protecting. The victimized you would call it. And the fact that he haven't felt hanger here is another reason for that as well that was why Oshino tried to hinted at it at the start of the movie. This also hinted why her first kin decided to kill himself. This is quite deep despite how simple the movie's theme is. Which is why I love this movie a whole lot since if you tweak one little event in this movie, it would've ended differently.

Lol that Pirate of the Caribbeans ref. Also : In French, those (consonant) letters are just not pronounced, though in some cases, they are if the next word starts with a vowel. Sometimes, it indeed has to do with masculine vs feminine (green = "vert" in masc. vs "verte" in fem.), but sometimes, it's just used in word building ("univers" is always masculine, but we can build words like "universel" or "université" out of it). The reasons are more historical than anything. We stopped pronouncing a bunch of letters at the end of words, but it wasn't affected if it wasn't at the end of the word, hence why we don't pronounce the "T" in "vert", but we pronounce it in "verte", however we then don't pronounce the final "E", for example. We could technically get rid of those silent letters, which is something that is debated in some circles. We can argue that it gives character to the language, but it also makes it harder to learn, even for natives, to the point that some just accept they suck at it and don't make any efforts anymore, because they're just tired of trying. It even creates some language elitism, where those who don't master spelling are heavily looked down on (imagine grammar Nazis, but three times more aggressive... well, that's, like, pretty much the norm, in French; I'm not joking...). All in all, it makes us spend a lot of time studying the (useless) spelling of basic words, time that we could spend on more important things (like, to stay in the language sphere... expanding one's vocabulary). And don't get me started on the written grammar. We even have a random rule that was artificially introduced in the language more than 400 years ago for absolutely no reason (other than the guy who created that rule just liked how it worked in Italian, except it didn't even work like that in Italian, he made a mistake when he interpreted the rule). And it's a rule that just barely affects speech. The very great majority of the time, it only affects writing. It's ridiculous. And even when it applies to speech, there's only one word people actually apply it to. The argument from those who advocate for a spelling reform (like me, if you haven't guessed) is that a language has its character no matter how you decide to write it. With that, since the way we currently write makes it harder for no real good reason, we should reform it. Of course, the elitists and purists won't want that (and they pretty much control what's viewed as canon in the language, thanks to the Académie française and similar institutions), but I'd like to think making the language more accessible is important enough to convince a lot of people. I'm actually being quite concise here with all the arguments on the topic, and it's better to have a good knowledge of French and the French-speaking community to have a better idea, but it's a little sneak peak on the issue. And I think some of these thoughts could be applied to English too, but that's another topic.

If yall want to see more of their monogatari content they put up a podcast (number 82) on their twitch talking bout bakemonogatari for an 1hour and 30 mins, They get into character analysis thats pretty interesting and accurate (as someone who didnt always like their theories and commentary, although they are miles above other reactors, I really liked the podcast as they get pretty in depth)

I really love Shinobu and Araragi's story together, I watched Kizu much later than this due to the release order and it really is so well done in the way it works great both here as context to their beginning but it also works great later in the story too as a rounding up of where they started and where they end up.

Where are we going now? Nise? Neko:Kuro? Neko:Shiro? What now? Seriously though you guys are the best. It's already 2:00 A.M. here and I might as well continue your discussion later. I like that you endured the breast-fondling scene. Thinking about it, it may be a downgrade (to you guys) continuing the monogatari series since Kizu made it early. I just hope that the next arc, you continue to love the series knowing that Kizu made a huge impact on both of you. If you love Hanekawa, you'll love her more if you intend to watch Nekomonogatari next. I want to support you guys on Patreon but all I can do is watch all of your videos that is, hopefully, monetized. All in all, outstanding reaction. Thanks SOS Bros. Very Epic

The scene where he sucks shinobu's blood and she was begging not to that scene hit me really hard maybe becuz I watched this movie before owari s2 I mean all the scenes where araragi and shinobu talk about this story in the whole series like in nise I didn't really understand those scenes becuz that time I haven't watched the movie after bake but when I finally watch this movie and watched that scene all emotions come to me and it broke me
@xavmanisdabestest5 жыл бұрын
i had to turn away from the screen during the breast scene omg that made me cringe so hard but in the breast way possible. Also i'm not the biggest fan of the subs they were using for example "to be continued online" and "see how it ends on the web" that difference annoyed me despite being so minor. they got the jist of it so it doesn't matter too much. would appreciate them at some point reading the book just to get their opinion on things. it is a very good read.

At the very end, Araragi looked at the audience when he said "he would never recite this story to anyone". Well of course, other than the audience.
@Nitos365 жыл бұрын
Well he didn't wanna tell the story, which is why is why the series started with bake and not with the actual start of everything in Kizu, same with the events in the past involving Sodachi he's forgotten cause of his trauma
@Jakokokoroko5 жыл бұрын
Also, we don't actually get to hear Araragi's monologues in this movie except for the very end there. So that's another take on how he will never recite this story since he usually comments on everything much more in the series overall. This was a stylistic choice from the movie director but it was certainly an intentional and thoughful one.

Kizu was a missing piece of the puzzle for people watching in the anime release order. As you saw in Bake, there were many scenes "characters talking about unknown things to YOU but already happened before, that YOU don't know yet." That continued in the next 70+ episodes until Kizu films released. Once people watch Kizu in the release order, they really become eager to rewatch the past episodes all over again because they can at long last understand how the characters are actually thinking and how they are connected deep in their minds and souls. I think people in Japan back then bought disks after watching Kizu films the next half year until new arcs (Owari 2nd) released. I guess that should be also the producer's marketing strategy.
@yourfaithlessfriend93995 жыл бұрын
Regarding "the scene". For me it was excessive and, I think, that is because the films reach a much larger audience than monogatari fans, and I really appreciate that Jacob realized that it's not just about simple fanservise. The problem is that it ruins the treatment that the series gives to everything related to sexuality and metaphors about youth and adolescence. In addition to being used as a comedy or to break tension, you'll notice that the distance between the characters is not the same before and after those types of scenes, the characters get naked in a literal and a figurative way. More ahead in the series there are several very clear examples. This series not only uses sexuality as a resource of fanservise but is one of the few animes that I know where sexuality is part of the construction of its characters. Black Hanekawa is sensual and violent because she is the embodiment of the repressed desires and frustrations of Hanekawa, Senjougahara is possessive and threatening with Araragi because (having not resolved her traumas for having been raped) she fears that he will break with her, and for that reason she "compensates" him with dirty talk. By the way, when Araragi says he does not intend to tell this story (kizu) to anyone, he says it literally. This event is treated with much mystery throughout the series. That's why those of us who followed the series in broadcast seemed like the final piece of the puzzle (I really recommend that you watch the series in order of emission). I apologize if you did not understand. I do not have good English
