26:57 ngl, drowning Luffy in the sea water immediately after knowing he is DF eater instead of fighting him would make Arlong much bigger threat, and create much better payoff in episode 8.

Super late, but a little special context for getting into a rap battle with Kongming: It's said when angered he actually insulted people into committing suicide/dying of shame on the spot, *multiple times*. This man could roast you so hard you just quit life.

the Chilchuck and Leed chapter is one of my favorites of this part. I love how Chil tries to hide his feelings by basically making himself the bad guy, his whole "I'm a coward and they're all idiots and I won't let them get me killed", and she sees right through him after knowing him for what, a few minutes? and the final conversation with Laios, where chilchuck looks so small kneeling there. idk he finally was vulnerable for a minute and I love how it's all handled. also doggos

33:31 Fun-fact: In Japanese, '介-SUKE' is used for male name. It is an old-fashioned name and sound like for boys of samurai families. ‘剣-KEN’ meaning is a sword. so ‘ken-suke’ is very make sense name for Japanese😊

I'm rewatching this after how many years and I just realized that (spoiler alert for those who haven't watched beyond this episode yet): Bakugo was pressuring Deku to use his Quirk because he didn't want to be looked down on by him (which makes sense based on what little Bakugo knows about Deku) but it's from the pov of Bakugo and how he has a superiority complex. In S2 with Todoroki, it happens again. Bakugo pushed Todoroki to use his Quirk because he didn't want to be looked down on and wanted to be treated as an equal like when Todoroki ended up using it against Deku but it's not from the pov that Bakugo is looking down on Todoroki but because he needs to earn the position of being #1 instead of assuming that he was like in the first half of S1. Yay development😂❤️ Also, AM was about to stop the both of them. That reminded me of Cementoss and Midnight trying to stop Deku and Todoroki in S2. Deku ended up letting Bakugo know that OFA isn't his own but he'll make it his eventually, just like at the end of the match between Deku and Todoroki, Deku wanted Todoroki to know that his Quirk isn't Endeavor's but his own.

A nice bit of foreshadowing we got was Kensuke fleeing from Falin like it only reacts to other monsters. And Falin clutching her throat and closing an eye when she was first revived.

I can't wait to see how the Live Action changes Sanji's early childhood to show just how oregano killed his mother or something. Gotta say though. A real Chef's L for kid Sanji on that island. Why did he eat the smoked meat first? Why did he leave the bread last? From what I saw, the order should absolutely have been Bread > Meats > Canned Foods The starvation makeup/CG wasn't very compelling for the flashback, but I guess I can't complain that they didn't make a child actor look starved enough.

I love how the comedic aspects of the show really work to enhance the drama and the emotion of the characters, and Chilchuck is the best character for this intraspection thanks to his straight man characterization. Initially this episode somewhat escaped my attention with the classic sakuga-action-horror-madness of the preceding two, but watching it again and hearing your amazing insights really hit me in the feels with how amazing an emotional episode this is.

@@ChaosMind10531 Exactly! We all get that some of the stuff is silly as viewers, but why on earth would the characters within the world think that? I think it’s really great that all the actors really took the roles, story, and world seriously because it made it such a great experience to watch. ☺️

It’s reminiscent of Sir Michael Caine in Muppet Christmas Carol. Plays it entirely straight, no “yeah, you’re watching me surrounded by Muppets” nods, treating them as true actors, and it made his Scrooge performance all the better as a result, even while the characters still have their funny and light moments they’re known for.

I heard the VA of Laios in English is also ASD, so he put a lot of his own feelings into his performance. Also, I heard ppl mention Kabru has a bit of an Indian accent and it’s nice to get an Indian/Nepalese coded character who doesnt have a super thick accent for a change.
@Bloodredtyrant12 сағат бұрын
What's actually hilarious is how the show dances around the term "Dungeon Master." They can't say "Dungeon Master" because that term is trademarked by Wizards of the Coast, so they instead use "Lord of the Dungeon." The lunatic magician can literally control monsters, control the very environment of the dungeon itself, and he even has a huge book in front of him. He's an in-universe Dungeon Master with his own ties to the story. He's the Dungeon Master's self-insert!

More of a translation thing if I'm not mistaken, Kui hadn't had much direct contact with anything D&D prior to writing Dungeon Meshi, her inspiration came from the Wizardry games, and she later first interacted with D&D through the first 2 Baldur's Gate games.

Chilchuck deeply cares about the party even though he often times act like he's only there for the money. He also has a hard time putting his kindness into words so ends up sounding harsh or cowardly. He sees the realistic risks of the dungeon and how dangerous it can be to base decisions based on emotions. I think this episode helped show who Chilchuck really is by having him talk with someone that is not a party member.
