I love the channel, but I expected that since you usually do analysis on characters you'd understand more about when Cid stopped he's inner monologue he was being truthful, he likes Alexis' sword style because it's basic and hardworking, like his. I know it wasn't as obvious as in the novel, but even in his old world trained himself to exhaustion because of how tired he looked ep 1, also I don't fault you for not knowing this, but just like how it showed his madness experimenting on Alpha he's training like a madman 20 hours a day with constant mana manipulation in public, while training at combat at night. This is all to say him saying he likes a few things, but is very attached to a chosen few no matter how it makes him feel or lack thereof (like the 1 million deaths example he gives) is a true and running theme with his character, so saying he wants girls or to make others feel wrong is kind of, to me, missing the entire point of his character. Which is one of the reasons he's funny, he's a madman dedicated to the bit.

I think some people see Eminence more as parody and so judge Cid less seriously. I am glad i can see the chuni/funny moments but realize that Cid is actually very smart and insane AND aware of it and actually has moral code like hard work is probably the highest virtue for him which is why he hates people who go the easy route.

@@Shinigami00Azael I stopped watching Slime when I stopped watching Naruto: When repercussions ceased to exist because resurrection magic was a thing. If you can just revive people willy-nilly, you'd better be a comedy series like KonoSuba, because "stakes" aren't a thing anymore. Some people only really notice that on rewatch because they're swept up in the story (which is a compliment to the storytelling, good job!) but I'm really hyperaware of the trope. EDIT: And yes, both stories go "oh, but the resurrection method is somewhat inconvenient to do!"... But it's resurrection magic being confirmed, implying it can be improved, or at the least, the inconveniences ironed out. In Naruto, it kills the user... But can be used by amateur ancient great-great-grandmothers on their deathbeds. And animals can use ninja magic in that series anyways, so have a legion of reviver-rats, and anyone who doesn't have a legion of reviver-rats is just stupid. In Slime it... needs an overlord nearby and a barrier spell. Ooooh, how could the Overlord Barrier-Maker Slime ever do that when needed?! So rare, so hard to do!

The show gives a ton of small hints about how Cid thinks and how/why his guesses are right. It is not that the universe is bending to his will. He is someone that is using his knowledge of power fantasy shows and his gamer fantasy to make guesses that are right. There not him smartly working out things. it's him traveling to a new event and going OH it is this trope.

It's what I like to call "natural fourth wall break." He doesn't just randomly reach out to the viewers as if he knows it's a fake story, he legitimately has a philosophical way of thinking where he metaphorically considers life a theater. His self-awareness of the tropes comes from that.

I think this series is more creative and deeper than most Isekai series out there. I like how the author uses Cid's ridiculous world view in perspective to reality and (Cid does this indirectly) pretty much teaches the supporting characters on how to press forward in face of what kind of reality they're facing in life. Yes, however, overanalizyng is not analyzing, that is why its called OVERanalizyng and when you do that you end up making up stuff that has nothing to do with the actual story like beliving that the world is bending to Cid's will wich ends up being a bad thing becouse you completely missinterpret both his character and everything that happens as a result. Analyzing on the other hand is nice, you pick up pieces of information and make an educated guess on what it could be, wich, is not what overanalyzing does, since you are using fabricated information that you made up becouse you are seeing things that are not there.

I'm going to share my half-baked theory. It's not that Cid isekai'd and he's an anchor to this reality/what he says becomes true magically. No, he isekai'd and told a fake story to a girl who now views him as her savior for changing her fate of being a monstrous blob. And SHE was fanatical enough to make the story real to please her savior. She leaned into it for him. I.E the cult of diablos was created like 7 years ago or something and she's the DM for Cid's real-life tabletop gaming fantasy lol

I really don't think that Cid is actually creating the stuff he makes up with his stories. Rather it is a case of him unconsciously tying into the collective unconsciousness of the world. As someone who is only 4 eps into the anime and never read the manga/novel, the 'Cid's subconscious desires may be what is shaping the world' seems a valid theory for how this world exists as any other. It's just as good as the premise that he somehow isekaid into a world where every single power fantasy trope is true which makes him really good at 'guessing' what is going on. It is so tropy and cliched that the 'all a dream while he is in a coma' would also be a valid theory, except the POVs from other characters which are much more grim-dark would suggest that this world is a real place in some way.

I think that them assuming that the world bends around Sid isn't an unreasonable theory considering he happened to guess the cult of Diablos by name. There was also that instance of him hitting the exact spot on the map where their hideout was located, both of which can't be explained by him just knowing tropes very well. Plus he isn't always aware or in control of some of the tropes he is falling into. Like with the development of his hit squad harem, he was just messing around while assuming they were just helping facilitate his delusions. Sure, he notices and uses some tropes, but not in the way a mastermind would (it's the same joke as in Overlord, where yes, he is a competent gamer, but not some supper genius the supporting cast thinks he is). That's the part of his character I think some of you all are missing, he is an extremely driven chunibyo and invested in the idea of becoming the eminence in the shadow, while being self aware enough to know his aspirations are ridiculous (which is why he discounts certain scenarios as aligning with his fantasies like when he raided the base his sister was being held in he doubted this was the cult he randomly named and just thought they must be some bandits) but pursues his ideals despite their outlandishness. It's because of the nuance in Sid's character, scenarios aligning with what his chunni side wants without him fully registering it or planning for it, that gives credence to their theory. So please stop looking down on their theory crafting, even if they may end up being wrong. I hate how some of these comments are bashing them for doing what sets this channel apart.

It's like suddenly finding an orange in a bag of apples, it's still just a bit less generic isekai, because of edgelord flavoring and a serving of metacommentary, but that doesn't make it way better by being different.
