I don't think that's news to anyone nowadays anymore? If you experience anything traumatizing (including watching anything), there is a chance you could get PTSD. Whenever I think about the Chapter Black tape, the thing that immediately comes to mind is the scene at the beginning of episode 134 of HxH, just a montage montage of humanity's lowest points.
@affable86962 жыл бұрын
What I enjoy about Togashi is that he always follows it by a show of true goodness, and highlights positive aspects of humanity as well. Diego's monologue (the real one's), while simple, is one of the more underrated scenes in HxH. He, a person of great power, decides to leave it all behind and find meaning in honest, simple work, writing poetry and reading, while pointing out that humans aren't either good or evil, but complex creatures capable of both. Rewatching Chapter Black makes me also wonder if we (at least in the West) aren't also constantly exposed to a "Chapter Black" of sorts. Constantly being fed only negative aspects of humanity, developing into feeling guilt and believing humanity's not worth saving. While I think we can be mindful of our capacity for evil, we should also take notice of the good in us (just like the Chapter Black is supposed to be watched in a set with its White counterpart).

The main cast being comprised of delinquents and demons is always fun to think about. Togashi literally took the villains from other anime and made them the good guys, and I love that. As someone who once had a strong sense of right from wrong and became somewhat "obsessed" with what the Bible says while I was in HS, I can totally relate to Sensui. My mind set at that time was that no human was capable of being "good" and that we were flawed and only made Earth and the rest of humanity stinkier. The effect on my behavior was me mostly avoiding contact and conversation and basically becoming a loner. I disliked people for being human and for not even trying to improve themselves, and also saw myself equally flawed. I'm not sure how I got out of that rot. I can't remember how but something must have brought me out of that funk. But imagine Sensui. He had the power and he was in a job that would basically allow him to "cast" judgment on demons and humans alike as he saw fit. When you are in that state, you tend to cling to a singular belief, sometimes, to the extreme. I imagine that this is how people get radicalized. But you can see that the experience is different for each person. Some people, like myself, woke up to observe and relearn things and adjusted my mind accordingly. Some people will not be that strong or may be limited in their experience or by the life given to them. In a way, YYH gives the basic solution to this "problem". Humans are not meant to be alone. Humans need support people or groups or friends to help them find their purpose or to have purpose. However, this also means that "friends" can either lead you to the dark or the light side.

See. Now I'm curious if the Doctor, in previous episodes, was like THAT, because he saw that tape. 19:40 And that rule has always been BS. Iconic stories have been made that're way more "tell, don't show" such as 12 Angry Men & The Breakfast Club. Legendary scenes such as the USS Indianapolis speech in Jaws destroy the myth that a picture is worth a thousand words when compared to Nicolas Cage's 2016 adaptation of the disaster. Beloved characters like Doc Brown have dialogue that's 90% exposition. Many Scorsese films are brimming w/ narration. Motion picture has never really been just a visual medium. Even during the silent era, music & on-screen text were constantly used. The key will always be execution, not the approach.

Remember the Bros don't read comments! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I adore Kuwabara and the fact that he got the Dimension Sword so he could keep up with the others. However, it does annoy/upset me with his decision when he ends up at the barrier. Yusuke bloody died AGAIN to keep that barrier up and Kuwabara is just like "Nah, Urameshi won't mind as long as I bring make Sensui's skull to be the urn for Yusuke's ashes." It could have gone SO wrong if the mazaku shit didn't happen. Also, I do wish the anime mentioned Chapter White in more detail (the good video). Jacob got really close to tying this back into the biblical themes. I liked the talk about moral absolutism that Christianity is full of that is most always responded to with swift and deadly "justice" by God's righteous fury. Dude's basically pulling a flood. Except no ark, well asides from the arc of the story. 🤠 He still needs to explain why demons are better than humans. What's the point in getting rid of humans if you are just replacing them with other people who do similar things. All you did was create more suffering. So maybe it is vengeance. Still "darkness cannot drive out darkness only light can do that. Hate cannot drive our hate only love can do that." It will be interesting to see how this is handled. Killing might be inevitable but it doesn't solve the problem of future radicalization.
