Top job, this video is so relatable, probably would have pulled other cable out and used it to draw two new cables in but it comes with a risk of losing the original. tough work on your own in and out, small bit of hand soap can help it through but messy. well done

Nice job. When I pull through any conduit, I put some washing up liquid on the cable as it really helps pull through and stops it burning against any other cables in the conduit. Might come in handy.

Something that maybe useful or not and I'm not sure if this client had battery storage but with a Hybrid PV and Battery system, to stop the Zappi draining the battery in ECO+ mode you need to set a small export margin of 50w. The setting is done here: Other Settings -> Advanced -> x x x x x -> Supply Grid -> Network -> Export Margin

You can get a flexible end for the cobra helps sometimes on beds. You can also get a small cobra marrying end with another cobra pull through. Use a duct camera to help also. Nice job.

When it comes to these things future proffing is what it's all about, hopefully though they never need to run anything else thought that as it definitely wasn't an easy task but that fish wire was an absolute god send. Sorry meant to add even use the cable as a fish wire to add a rope and cable and bring it back, I was thinking it in my mind, have done that myself previously as the cable itself possible has a bit of a bend in it which was making the feed of your wire difficult......

another suggestion is to get some fishing line - tie a small bag or such to the end and use a vacuum cleaner to suck the things through. also Lubing up the cable helps pulling it in - good work as usual

Good video, for next time, keep dripping in some cable lube as you are feeding the cable through, massively improves the ability to pull cable through especially when there’s another cable already in there, we use the 3M lube and comes in 1L bottles. If you’re stuck trying to push the rod through, tie a bit of tissue to a drawer string and vacuum it through the pipe 👍👍 Keep up the great videos.

Wow ive never seen a cobra in such good nick. Another way is draw sting, rubber glove and a hoover as some of the bends you cant get the cobra round, but a rubber glove with some draw string tied on and a hoover on the other end just sucks it straight through when you face this challenge at 2:15, probably hit a tight bend, yeah often just force you can get around it but it can be hard work and take longer for no reason, but since the other end had a box over it I get why you may not want to try this immediately 3:30 thatll be the final bend into the cupboard just like when you feed it from the house to garage, thats why you struggled, that too is often a problem, force would get you there eventually but since its not smooth ducting itll make it much harder as itll get caught at every slight bend, hoover, drawstring and glove job thatll be. Or the cobra should of come with a bigger bullet end, put that one on as then it may not get caught on all the ribbing on this type of duct work Edit spelling mistake --right-- tight

As i do this with the cobra daily you can get a spring bullet to attach onto the cobra which gets around bends easily. Then again use cable ties with tape to make a bulb shape to push through blockages.

Just an ideal , Couldn’t you of just ran a larger cable into the existing DB? Like a 10mm SWA and then used the existing hi-tuff as a draw too pull it through? and then could maybe pull a 10mm 3core and a Shielded Data cable for the CT? As that EV Ultra stuff is expensive anyway, may of potentially saved time and maybe off set the materials cost? Just an idea anyway as I think re-pulling in the new cable with the existing one as a draw wire would have probably made it a lot quicker IMO? Obviously you are there in real time but it was just how I saw it myself…. Disconnect existing tie it on and pull it through?

My new build came with a 7kw/32a charger on the wall. Could never get it to charge over 16A. In my consumer unit the fuse for the EV charger is DETA 1216. So a 16A fuse. Is that why I can’t charge over 16A? Could I simply swap it out for a 32A fuse? I have 100A coming into the house.

Can I ask what charger you have? You have load curtailment in place, you need to ensure that you have a 4mm or 6mm cable installed to the charger depending on length of cable run, you may have a 2.5mm which is why it’s been limited to 16A.

Hey. Do you recommend any charger specifically? How do you rate each app for customer usage/bugs? Getting a Tesla soon and wondering what to go with. Was thinking Zappi (not getting solar) initially but after hearing about its weird radio Wi-Fi setup and the app reviews of most EV chargers in general, they almost all seem to have terrible reviews (2.5 stars at best...). Then thought of the the Hypervolt but its app doesn't even allow reviews yet. Also the Ohme but that got one of the worst, 1.7 stars on android app... Now I'm thinking the Tesla Wall Connector for the, I think, Tesla vehicle exclusive? Vin restriction for charging, that I think it's the only charger with and opening the charge port, as well as one app for everything. Don't think it tracks costs/usage but the car itself does anyway. Only issue with it is I'm in the Republic of Ireland and I'm not sure if it's eligible for our 600 euro charger grant due to it being considered a dumb charger in the past, as well as it needing its own pen fault protection or ground, though I'm not even sure about our regulations on that.

I might be a mile off here but from a performance POV never use WiFi boosters, they are dogshit (all of them) as they're simply repeaters which by their nature half bandwidth. 100meg (wired) Ethernet only uses two pairs, you can happily wire up cabled internet for the charger or install a small wired access point in the outbuilding (granted you'll need to use a POE injector to power it) but for a posh install like that, it's worth not being called back because your charger install (with wifi booster) ruined their internet :) I know it worked this time, but it looked like you might use a booster if it didn't

Thanks for the advice mate, I have found that the boosters work quite well to be honest, but I absolutely agree a hardwired connection is far better if it’s an option.

@@sotaelectrical the problem is the effect they have on the bandwidth (speed) where they are in effect. Because they have to first receive then re transmit eveything, effectively they half the available speed. It may not be noticed depending on the location and application but it has the possibility to be a costly call back. For example say there was a home office in the garage or external, a booster might cause problems when the client comes back to work etc.
