Been using the following on my Garmin 255S for a while now but thinking of changing it up. Running power is nice to have but I'm not even sure it's a useful data field. Page 1 (mostly instantaneous stuff): Heart rate graph Cadence Distance Pace Time of day Running power graph Page 2 (mostly lap stuff): Heart rate gauge Cadence Lap distance Lap pace Lap time Running power gauge Page 3 (sometimes useful stuff): GPS strength Timer (i.e. not counting pauses) Elapsed time (i.e. including pauses) Performance condition

I was about to type out a comment defending autolap, but I sat back and through about it and changed the settings on my watch hahaha

This was exactly my thought process too lol I just turned it off for the first time in a decade of running. Can't believe I've never seen such a logical explanation for not using it 😅

It's interesting how running watch configs give you a window into the mind of a runner. I've always wanted the HR on the first screen

Didn’t even know I could do all this on my Coros haha Actually really helpful, haven’t seen these nuanced tips. Cheers mate

Is it better to have avg pace total activity on 1st page instead of avg lap pace? Thanks for the video great content!
@SotaMaeharaАй бұрын
They mean the same thing! Auto lap off = total activity is one lap Therefore avg lap pace = total activity average pace Hope it makes sense!

@@SotaMaehara what if i'm doing a quality session which requires me to manually lap the segments (e.g. 10 mins warmup + 20 mins threshold run + 10 mins cool down)?
@SotaMaeharaАй бұрын
Then you hit the lap button at those designated times, that's exactly what I do Check out my new Strava activity, the 9 x 600 followed by 8 min T. I lapped at end of warm up, end of each rep, end of each rest, start of 8 mins, and end of 8 mins
@ThoTRINH-devАй бұрын
@@SotaMaeharawhen you hit lap button, the lap pace is not the total activity avg pace anymore. Better to have “avg pace” on the 1st page, 2nd page lap pace is correct way.

hi, since you dont have the HR stats in your main data screen page does that you mean you race at pace + perceive effort instead of pace + HR? do you ever check your HR during a race/run?

I have set up my laps so that they ar ecustomisable to the raps. For example, If I have a warm up of 3km, a 10x 400m with rests, and then a 3km cool down, each segment becomes its own lap (warm up is one lap, each 400m is its own lap, each rest is its own lap, and the cool down it is own lap). This way I focus on running and then laps auto change accordingly. On long runs, the whole thing is a lap
@SotaMaeharaАй бұрын
That’s exactly what I do

What coros you running with? I’ve been using Garmin forerunner 955 and always been curious about moving over to coros and it’s nicer app/user experience.

I switched from a Garmin 235 to a Coros Pace 3 (I'd say they are equivalents to each other). Coros battery life is elite so it's great for an ultramarathoner like me. I find that the GPS is very accurate too. I don't look for anything crazy in watches so this is basically perfect for me!

Auto lap off on a long run allows me to zone out and time passes so much quicker vs watching everytime it beeps
