What data fields do you find the most useful in your running??
@NielsPilon
@NielsPilon Жыл бұрын
Current or average pace. So helpfull knowing you’re on the right pace especially when the training consists different paces or when doing intervals. Mostly do it on feel right know but when starting with serious training knowing your pace was so nice.

Distance, time and pace. Heart rate on a second screen. Eyes not good enough without glasses for small numbers!

I find elapsed time really useful for when you know you only have a set amount of time to get the run done in! 😂

I tend to have just the workout data field for workouts and only heart rate/power for easy runs. For longer races I really like the pacepro data fields with time ahead/behind goal, lap pace, heart rate. Pacepro is great if you have a good route for the race because it’ll keep correcting for gps dropouts like going through a tunnel. Still useful without a route, just setting it to distance and time goal.

Didn't know you could put those data field up in map screen. Will check that on my 955. I usually have 2 datascreens I use. One with overall statistics and the one I use most is laptime, lapdistance, lappace and (current) cadence. Cadence is sometimes helping me quite a bit. It's a good indication when you slow down. If i get my cadence back up, the pace will be up as well.

I also like to look at my cadence so I can easily see when my running form is falling apart. Then I know I have to concentrate a bit more on my form again.

Easy runs I have: Distance, current pace, lap pace and heart rate Races I swap out heart rate for average pace I have so many types of pace because I live in a hilly area, so it fluctuates wildly!

Instead oof having so many faces why don;t you just copy and rename the activity and use certain watch faces.

I have a similar setup. Tho I dislike scrolling through many screen while I’m running, so I made multiple Run profiles, which have their own set of screens. Some profiles that I have are; Race, Intervals and Recovery. They also have different settings - intervals doesn’t have auto-lap enabled for example. Works very nice for me. Thanks for the video Ben!

I use heart rate gauge on most data screens, on hill repeats besides lap time and lap time distance on separate data page I use Last Lap time, Last Lap distance and last cadence. Thanks for sharing, keep up the great content. 😊

I have 4 data fields set. Distance, overall time, heart rate then I switch between lap and average pace. I like lap pace for track intervals and average for longer runs. I tried pace pro during GNR and it was all over the place so never used it again.

Thanks for sharing this! I need to spend some time with my Garmin 745 and set up all these data screens. I definitely use distance, elapsed time, current pace, and heart rate. I’m befuddled at how to use the lap feature with intervals though-do I hit the button at the end of each lap or the beginning (eg, hit start and then lap immediately to catch lap one)? Anyway, in trails, elevation might be handy, though I would usually just look at that after the run for interest.

I am using Distance, Average and Current HR + current Pace for my easy runs. The two HR metrics are nice to have all the data I need to see if my run is really easy.

Ben firstly great video as ever. It doesn’t really matter so much for me as I’m slow… but for a speed demon like you the race data screen should have the time in the centre of the screen as it shows hh:mm:ss where as where you had it only shows hh:mm I think? That’s if you’re chasing PBs? I guess when you’re 1k out on a marathon with a PB on you need to know down to the second where you are? I’ve heard of runners missing pbs because of it… 👍🏼

That data field will be minutes and seconds. Then after an hour it will automatically switch to h:m:s. At the end of races I'm pushing 100% anyway!! :-)

For trail (ultra) running I use 5km as automatic lap distance as it better evens out the average pace due to climbs and descents. Otherwise quite the same as Ben, just a few fields per screen and mostly looking at average pace and distance.

Nice video Ben! One thing I am curious about. You mention that you press the lap button during interval's. Does this mean you do not use the workout / interval option of your watch? This helpt me, especially with short intervals, to not continously check my watch :-)

I noticed you mentioned that you don’t use heart rate data on your runs as well as on your Strava video on your main channel. I was wondering if there was any reason, or if you just prefer to run based on feel?

It just works better for me to run on feel. Just get overloaded with data telling me how I'm feeling and find it much better to be in tune with my body telling me how I'm feeling.
