There is no game that can make you root for the villain quite like SotC. We all know Wander is, at the very least, a neutral character with no moral qualms against releasing ancient danger into the world, yet we root for him. And in the same breath, it obliges us realize the consequences of his actions, i.e. the sad song that accompanies each of the Colossus' defeat or Wander's own body twisting into Dormin. I believe that is better illustrated in the last Colossus fight: when Wander reaches up to it's hands, it won't be initially hostile and will even stare at Wander with curiosity. Meanwhile, Wander's disfigured form is hellbent on killing it. This game will forever be a classic.

No one except Agro witnessed Wander fight the Colossi. Wander himself lost his physiliological ability to retain any memories of what happened by becoming a newborn. Seems to me like anything that becomes part of the ritual gets suspended in time; Mono's body do not decompose despite being dead on the altar. If Months did pass in-between each colossi, then she should have shown sign of decomposition.

I played the original when it first came out, never played the HD or Remastered versions. Was this in the original? Could you reload your save in a post game and do this? I have no memory of being able to go back and see these like this.
@timmadone89308 ай бұрын
You could always go back & visit the remains of a dead colossus in the PS2 version & even fight them again by praying in front of the lifeless body. That was a feature that's always been in the game along with Normal & Hard Time Attack Mode. New Game+ was also available in the PS2 version even though that term wasn't used. But the ability to start a new game with your saved progress existed.

For me, these Colossus were created by the residents of these lands for a long time as False gods, but they were just statues Created to be worshiped, each place they inhabited was a unique god of those people, and the initial temple was a type of church to honor all these gods Showing the alliance of the people in this country of forgotten lands. When this evil god appeared, the residents of that country, jealous of him wanting his power, put his soul in the statues to make their beloved gods come to life, but it didn't work,They died for the gods they gave life to.

It would be a great idea if we could relive the battles with each colossus by simply praying in front of them, in the same way we save the game on the totems. That way it would also be a way to respect them.

Interesting how the stonework is sort of disintegrating. The basic forms of the colossi are there, but they're partly retaken by the land. The colossi are terrifying in this game, but also majestic and awesome. It is sad to see them like this...like a bygone era of myth, such as the Titans from Greek folklore. Is this a mod, or what actually happens in the vanilla game?

Lore wise wouldn’t it make sense to keep the bodies looking like you just killed it? If I’m mistaken forgive me but I thought there was a line in the old ps2 version that says time stopped flowing until wanderer unlocked dormim which started the flow of time again
@BIGD-cc7ru Жыл бұрын
I think the build up of rock and debris growing around their body is to show to the player that every time you defeat a colossus, a LONG period time has passed, months probably (would say years but that seems a bit far fetched) and it questions you on what happens when you are knocked out and mysteriously transported back to Dorman’s temple
@daokoxd1145 Жыл бұрын
Late reply but the way it seems is that the colossus Rapidly decayed after many years of being locked in time so as to catch up or the magic that kept them alive faded and it just returned them to what it once was: Dirt and grass with only the artificial stones and armor staying. If we go by the time moves differently like months or years then it wouldn't make sense because Emon and his men would have been very old once they catch up to Wander in the final scene. Best theory is the first one where they rapidly decayed like Time is catching up to them since the Forbidden lands where sealed in time and was gradually broken
@timmadone8930 Жыл бұрын
All the dialog spoken in the game is the same in all 3 versions (PS2, PS3, PS4). The only difference is the PS4 version has either new voice acting or a remix of existing voice acting for the male/female voice of Dormin. Either way the subtitles of what Dormin is saying are the same in all 3 versions. I did notice though that one line spoken by one of Lord Emon's men is missing from the PS4 version.

I have a question, how did you get that bow, for what I know it appears in the character section, on "bows and arrows" but I don't know to earn it. Someone can help, I wish to love this game and that's part of it.
@timmadone89308 ай бұрын
That bow is called the Ancient Bow & you could only get it with a D.L.C. code which is no longer available. Perhaps if we're lucky enough to get a Definitive Edition of the game next year to celebrate the 20th anniversary, that bow along with a few other D.L.C. items (Spotted Agro, Life Sword, Shaman's Cloak) will be made available as items you can unlock.

@@alejandrorojas6422 Yeah, I have all the D.L.C. items except the Life Sword. One of the pics in the gallery shows the Life Sword along with the 3 other swords. It's the sword with the circle at the end of the handle. To get the D.L.C. code for that sword you had to pre-order the special edition of the game. In Japan the D.L.C. code was on a piece of paper inside the game case of the standard release. All D.L.C. codes for the game expired in February of 2021.
