I know you have to 'sell' these pictures, but even so these are excellent films. AGD is the perfect host.

there's quite a bit of sotheby's content yet the view number is often less than my most popular video. I give these guys an A for effort.

So many wonderful paintings up for sale but , to me, Botticelli's painting is not as good as Da Vinci's or Durer's in its execution. Can't wait to see what they all reach in auction.

Rubens was not in fact ‘the teacher’ of van Dyck. He worked as assistant in Rubens’s workshop but Rubens’s specialist assistants were not apprentices in the traditional manner but masters working in collaboration under the auspices of Rubens. A very important distinction (for Rubens did indeed have many students) and an unfortunate error from a co-chairman in Old Masters

I feel sure AGD knew that but ,as he was having to race through these pictures ( and did so with such graciousness to those he interviewed) I’m guessing that he chose to use that term than waste time explaining the situation (which any art historian knows).

Thought the “Salvador Mundi” has not been Authentically Proven to be by da Vinci ……it’s still questionable. Feedback please. .

Liked it a lot but can also see the scholarship and storytelling of AGD somewhat collide with the sales pitch of a auction house.

The couple of portraits attributed to Anthony Van Dyck are not painted by the same artists. The woman portrait it’s not a Van Dyck , the stile is different to the man. Her face and hands are not by the artist. To me is a surprise when so call experts don’t see the difference. On the trade we said is a different hand. It’s necessary to scan that picture before the sale, it looks like a copy of an original. Every artist has a flair a stile very characteristic impossible to re produce. The woman is not by A Van Dyck. Is like writing , everyone has a different stile, if you know about how to paint it’s very obvious the difference. Her hand is force not natural, AVD painted the hands very beautiful.

Botticelli's Christ looks like his Women in Primavera.. it has got the same expression via the shape of the mouth! I think he has done that deliberately.
