This game is terribly underrated by the SC tournament community. IMO most effort, ingenuity, and enjoyable offline content ever put in a Soul game in the whole franchise.

I find funny that everything went downhill from this game onwards. Like this is the last genuinely good game in the franchise, honestly I don't think SCVI can top it. Everything was going great and then SCIV came...

VishisTV, I'm honestly not having hopes for the gameplay since the new director wants to replicate SCII (personally I didn't enjoyed that gameplay, I felt like the characters changed pace randomly and it was very annoying, but that's just me. I'm not an expert so my opinion is most likely flawed 😅) and I can't see what's so cool about the Reversal Edge system (see, there was a similar system before and Okubo just made it flashy and basically a button smash QuickTime event). And in content... it's going to be lacking a gain. They're only relying on Libra and Chronicles/Story. I love the art, the music, some characters have brand new costumes that look so cool (98% are completely recycled tho)... but I'm in middle ground with it. Like the only hope I have is the story. If the story turns out good (the new producer can taint what's already written and that's why I'm so focused on it) I will buy it... if it doesn't, no money from my wallet. But honestly, if SCVI turns out to be good, that's cool, but in no way it can bypass SCIII in my eyes. I must be biased, but to me SCIII is the only good game of the bunch. You can see and feel the love in that game.

The game feels mad fun. I have never been so excited for the release of a souls game tbh. After the network test i wanna go into practice mode and play more. It is tragic that bamco is sacrificing Offline content for mostly just fighting i agree but i got to give them their props on the combat for SC6. Not so much tekken 7 as tekken tag 2 was far superior imo but thats a whole other conversation lol

I sadly don't even have current gen consoles so I couldn't even test the beta network test, but if you enjoyed it, that's good, more power to you. However I don't think combat alone can redeem the fact that they're sacrificing offline content and making the games basically without content. A game isn't fun only because of its gameplay, content is also very important. What you can do inside the game without getting online. Survival, Time Attack, Missions, Tournament mode... Chronicles of the Sword was a completely different game too! SCVI only has Chronicle, Libra and CaS, aside from online and the regular arcade mode... even if the gameplay is godlike, there isn't much you can do and you're basically obligued to go online. Which is bad. At some point people will stop playing online... what are you going to do then? Drop the game?

Mitsurugi's ending was pure gold when you equipped the wooden sword. only hollow wooden striking sounds, nobody killed, just knocked out... with a wooden sword. Skilled as a god.

Yep! In SCIV Pyrrha is still with Tira and Tira is manipulating Sophitia to defend Soul Edge in Ostrheinsburg using Pyrrha as bait. by the time of the events of SCV Tira has completely brainwashed the now grown-up Pyrrha. Since Tira's my favorite character and my main, I LOVE how she slowly went from lowly sidekick to main mastermind behind Soul Edge's reign of destruction.

Number of reasons. It only came out on the PS2, there was a lack of advertisements for this game, plus no guest characters (since I assume people were pretty spoiled when there was no guest characters). I wish this game was more popular, this was easily one of my favorite games in the entire franchise along with Soulcalibur II.
