Question, not criticism: why forgo the guaranteed 50/50 crouch grabs against Taki? I understand mixing it up occasionally, but I think one round you chose to attempt a reset on every guaranteed 50/50. I'm an Astaroth player, and I learn SO much from your gameplay (thank you by the way, you're amazing and inspire me to keep playing Asty); I'm just legitimately curious why you seem to dislike the grab follow-up option.

You mean the crouch grab after the first BK stomp? I think because in prior matches just before that Taki set, my opponent was escaping the crouch throw every single time. lol. So I was testing applying pressure with both stomps, then going for the crouch throw on the 2nd one. I figure I'll take all the offensive pressure I can get against a fast character to break their rhythm. 😉 I appreciate the comment... and good luck with your Asta!

Fighters Generation im looking for advice, what quick openers should i use when being overwhelmed by spam? i find myself using the forward knee too much and need to improve my mix up.

Even his fastest attacks - decimation (4A) or bear's fang (4B) are not fast enough to interrupt most spam attacks (14 and 16 frames against 10-12 for most characters). Using GI or at least reversal edge is essential. And yeah, keep your distance if you know that this opponent can wreck you in close combat.

2k is a good way to get them slightly off of you as well if they whiff against you crouching

I was going to say 2k and the followup (or not) as well. Mixing up timing up close can work wonders. But as Astaroth, you have to accept the fact that everyone is faster up close. Keeping them at a farther range, using backdashing, and grabbing will help keep them at bay.

I've found out how to do that very recently myself. It's 2KB, GA. The thing is, the opponent won't bounce unless you spam the throw after the stomp. Yes, weird. You can find that move in the movelist (Dual button moves).

Taki players always annoy me because they all go for the same rising attack to combo as if that's her only setup, but they get away with it though because she's so damn fast. Ivy annoys me too, but at fairness they're abusing their characters strong points. As much as I hate astaroth(being ironically a maxi main) I hate ivy more lol. Satisfying to see what they do when they can't bullshit their whip.
