I know this was Setsuka's story but Shugen and Mitsurugi's duel stole the show for me, just how evenly matched they were to the sheer respect and admiration they had for each other had me grinning from ear to ear.

This was a nice retcon. In Soul Calibur 3, Mitsurugi would claim that he didn't even remember Setsuka's master when facing her. But to embellish this duel and make it the most important fight of Mitsurugi's life was great writing. It adds depth to the rivalry that Setsuka and Mitsurugi have for future games, as it was Setsuka's swordplay that originally led Mitsurugi into meeting Shugen.

This was a marvelous Soul Chronicle from start to finish. Setsuka's origins, Mitsurugi's side story, the callbacks to Soul Blade and the first three Soulcaliburs in terms of past events or the music, all of it stole the show for me.

Wow this was such a great story! Very detailed and deep to listen to! Feel bad for everything Setsuka went through but it made her the woman she is today! And I love how they even played her classic SC3 theme at 1:23:06 Notice how Sakan at the end reacted about saying she is more like a daughter to him? Could that like be her actual father or something? And who was that at the end speaking with the dead Gyoubu? Was that Tira maybe? Anyways just loved this story so much! And that’s one thing I gotta give to the whole SC franchise! They are great at storytelling which gets you really engulfed into the world

I don’t think that’s Kate Higgin’s voice. Plus if you look at the timeline, Setsuka’s story ends before the end of Tira’s. No, I think this might be a brand new character. Foreshadow for Season 3 perhaps?

I have a few theories: 1. "Miser", one of SCIII's bonus characters, a female assassin with a katana and an impossibly large shuriken. She and an old man named "Greed" with Kunai (also in SCIII) were after Soul Edge shards. They were assassins belonging to some kind of organization. No idea if they were using guinea pigs with Soul Edge shards like with Gyobu here, but it's not impossible. The two of 'em would later get thrashed by Mitsurugi pre-SCIV's story. 2. One of Fygul Cestemus's priests, most likely. They were indeed experimenting with the shards of Soul Edge, and some had even made it as far as Japan.

It's just only me who want Patroklos came back to SC6, i missed him so much and his advanced Shinden tsushima style (At least can i play as him kid version like Amy and Talim) And i really want to know about story when he was young, What happened in his life and why did the family abandon him? (Where is Sophitia,Rothion and Pyrrha) How he meet with Setsuka (his master) and get that moveset?, And who exactly makes his characteristic so worst and become dumbest and less humanity (Maybe Setsuka was the one who made him look like that because she has raised him all along) There are still many other stories that I suspect about Patroklos, but Project Soul never tells us about that event. Seriously he is the last reason I will come back to play this game now This is best chance to redemption what he did mistake in 5

No thanks I just had about enough of that guy in Soul Cal 5 his story alone was the main focus due to time constraints and limited resources his story stole the entire show in the 5th installment. That's what you get when you start a new generation of heroes who's back story isn't even specific. Then again I'm one of those unfortunate few that wants appreciate Rock and wants him to return and fully improved perhaps new fighting set.

I mean I get feelings are complicated and there’s a lot of back and forth when it comes to grief, but there was no build up to indicate that this was going to be what she decides to do. She fought Gyobu while saying that she would live without regret or burden, and fought like it was her final resolve, the music was so epic and nostalgic, she found the domain of inner peace in her mind, and then at the end just decided, “Kay, I’mma go kill a b*tch, brb.” Like I thought you were setting out to find the scrolls, excuse me? And growing up I used to think Mitsurugi was this flat, single-minded, hardened and edgy warrior that didn’t care about the cost to others if he seeks Soul Edge to get stronger - but now I’m finding out that he’s basically just a big baby that lights up and gets super nerdy and excited about swordfighting, like goddammit, I can’t hate this man and I definitely don’t want this man to die lol.

The way I interpreted the story was a bit different. Shugen's last wishes were for Setsuka to live life unburdened. Towards the end of the Soul Chronicle, she comes to a realization and explicitly mentions that both she and Gyobu are bound by a dead man--and that she would finally unburden herself. This is a significant statement as, Shugen's specter has practically haunted her for the majority of her story. All the secrets that Shugen kept from her, as well as the bad blood that still remained unresolved between Shugen and the Kokonoe, essentially kept Setsuka from living her life. Prior to this, she spent at most, 2 years, trying to live on peacefully according to her master's wishes only to be haunted by his dark legacy. So for Setsuka to decide to pursue Mitsurugi out of vengeance, she's finally living her life on her own terms, instead of her master's, essentially unburdened. So she is, in effect, fulfilling her Master's wish for her to live life freely by following her own aspirations. Living life unburdened can also mean living life based on your own choices and desires, and not adhering yourself to the preferences of the deceased. So I didn't think Setsuka's decision to go after Mitsurugi was contradictory. Claiming vengeance for Shugen was what *she* wanted to do from the beginning. Proclaiming that she loved Shugen though, that was kind of unexpected. But to be fair, we never see Shugen and Setsuka's relationship outside of select key events. She clearly cared for him deeply. But as a father, mentor, or love interest, there was not much time spent dwelling on that characterization. However, Setsuka spends a great deal of time explaining how kindly Shugen treated her, so it's not strange for her to harbor affection for him especially as they are not blood-related.

I agree, but this story leads to her appearance in SC3. It's during her hunt for and clash with Mitsurugi that she learns that vengeance is empty, and she puts the past behind her. Humans don't always learn the first time.
