This game is so fantastic. It's honestly an awful shame how the save data gets corrupted easy. That on top of all the bugs and glitches... such a shame. I'd kill for a rerelease! Hopefully one day. This game deserves it!

There is a rerelease for the PS2 NTSC-J and PAL regions but Namco didn't tell anyone about it as those versions have the memory card save data fixed. I don't know if it's true or not.

When does the memory card corruption usually happen? When you have Auto-Save on in "Chronicles of the Sword"?

@@undyingsoul3949 I don't think it's set for auto save I think when it asks to save and I hit yes it tries for a second then it says unable to save or something. It's been a few years too be fair lol.

@@SMALLSandJOE That's bad. There was another game that froze during the saving process (manual, and still). I lost all my progress in a game that was long and hard enough already. With SoulCalibur III, I heard people say one can prevent the save file from getting corrupted when playing "Chronicles of the Sword" by disabling auto-saves. I don't know. I'll just do it like that.

@@undyingsoul3949 that's rough and I wish I knew more specifically what was happening but like I said it's been a few years but it's never been able to save any progress in Chronicles of the Sword BUT everything else saves perfectly fine and any items I've unlocked through CotS have saved as well so the only issue is that I can't play through that mode all the way through like I want to. I'll probably emulate it one day but I just haven't gotten there yet

The biggest shame for this game is that it was ported a year before the Xbox 360 and PS3 launched. The memory card glitch in the PS2 port ruined all the progress in this game. Atleast Namco should've released an updated HD version of the PS2, fixed the memory card glitch, and add in the arcade software updates for the 360 and PS3 version.

Exactly, sadly it still remains a PlayStation 2 exclusive. Always wanted to know why it wasn’t ported to other systems especially since the other SC games were ported to other systems unlike the Tekken games until Tekken 6.

@@E24KLawson absolutely agree with you. They could've made an HD version for the 360 and PS3 in 2006. That memory card glitch was a huge bug. Namco and Project Soul studios should've done better quality control. Never heard of the bugs being ironed out. Are you sure there's an updated PS2 version?

@@E24KLawson that makes sense. So if you imported a NTSC-J PS2 disc, would it work on your PS2? Or if your PS2 is modded, can you use a PAL disc?

Or just softmod your system with freemcboot and use OPL or hard mod your system with a mod chip ;)

Yep, the Soul Calibur franchise started to decline after or during SC3 and not to mention arcade completely dying out. Tekken is still alive in the arcades because it has a bigger following and it’s competitive, not the case with Soul Calibur however.

Arcades kind of started to decline when the PS3 and 360 released. Why would anyone go to the arcade when you can get arcade perfect ports and DLC characters, stages, costumes, weapons, and other things by just downloading it instead of going to the arcade for soul caliber.
