Owned 70 fender twin with blackface mods, loved it! Used for a few years on gigs then went with 79'deluxe reverb,loved it! Then sold my pal a wampler paisley pedal and he tries it with a 90's 52 tele reissue into a 67 super reverb...WOW! Now adding 77 super into collection. The moral of the story...you can't go wrong with fender amps! I also have a variety of gibsons,fenders and rics and pedals and all sound great with a fender amp!

would love a super reverb. One of the awesome things about fender amps is when you crank them, and the tubes heat up, and you get that kind of "woofiness", not really a crunch per se, but the wooly sound like John Fogerty's live sounds from the early 70's CCR shows, I love that sound. Plus there's something about the tremolo that stirs my loins.

Yeah, just slightly fuzzy, mushy and out of control but in a beautiful way. Haven't yet had a chance to crank my Super but I've been able to crank my Custom Vibrolux and Deluxe Reverb. Also there's a few video of guys cranking Twin Reverbs on KZbin and it roars just as much as a Marshall.

Thought Fogerty was using solid-state Kustom amps back then. Can't remember what pedal(s) he was using.

I wonder if I could get a cool '60s kind of clean grit out of this amp, and still be loud enough to be heard along side drums and bass at the rehearsals and gigs?

@patrickfoster45866 жыл бұрын
Johnny Rohlf True, but if you want break-up get the Super Reverb. That Twin will make your ears bleed before it will get dirty! Plus nothing sounds as sweet as a Super cranked to 10, which will absolutely compete with any drums!

whats the difference between the deluxe reverb, super reverb, and twin reverb? I'm pretty new to fender amps. And I really want to get one. just not entirely sure which one to get.
@model_number_band9 жыл бұрын
theused0321 You need to do some homework, my man. Supers have 4 "10 speakers, heavy 40 watts.. I have a '68. Deluxe's have a single 12" - far easier to lug to gigs. Lower wattage allows you to push them more in realistic live settings (or at home). Twins have more wattage, twin '12 speakers.. All have different tube topography.. But ignore this - play them, learn them, make your own decisions.
@MagicPants6479 жыл бұрын
thanks man. I'm a noob when it comes to amps. Is the super reverb your favorite out of the deluxe and twin? In terms of tone.
@model_number_band9 жыл бұрын
Tough call. Deluxes might be considered the most useful and practical. However, a cranked super is one of a handful of tonal nirvanas in the amp world.
@danhall7168 жыл бұрын
As far as the 4 reissue black-face amps currently available, you have: -Princeton: 15-watts, tube-rectified, 2× 6V6 output tubes, 1× 10" ceramic magnet speaker, 1 channel, no mid control -Deluxe: 22 watts, tube-rectified, 2× 6V6 output tubes, 1× 12" ceramic magnet speaker, 2 channels, no mid control -Super Reverb: 45 watts, tube-rectified, 2× 6L6 output tubes, 4× 10" AlNiCo magnet speaker, 2 channels, bright switches on both channels, mid control on channel 2 only -Twin Reverb: 85 watts, silicon diode-rectified, 4× 6L6 output tubes, 2× 12" ceramic magnet speakers, 2 channels, bright switches and mid controls on both channels. The Twin Reverb is regarded as the ultimate in clean headroom. 85 watts from 4× 6L6 tubes is awesome, plus it's solid-state rectified. The Super Reverb is "only" 45 watts, coming from 2× 6L6 output tubes. The Super Reverb is physically largest and heaviest, and has the most total speaker area (40", as compared to the Twin's 24"), however, given the fact that it's tube-rectified and uses AlNiCo magnet speakers, means it's decidedly more "vintage" sounding than the Twin.

This video was not very helpful at all. Too much talk about Johnny Marr and not enough about the amps. I'm in the market for a Fender amp. My choices are getting either a used Super Sonic Twin 100, a '65 Twin Reverb, or a '65 Super Reverb. I was hoping to get some useful info on the Super Reverb from this video, but sadly I gained nothing. Everyone already knows that Fender amps are great. That's why I'm shopping for one, stupid! Back in the day, I used to own an original 1965 Super Reverb an a mid '80s red knobbed Twin. I was proud to have a Super Reverb because that was the amp used by the legendary jazz guitarist, Wes Montgomery. He was one of my first influences growing up as a kid, and I wanted to be just like him. (That never happened, by the way). I recall the Twin from the '80s as being incredibly loud. It was so loud that it scared me! It even made my Marshall 200 Major seem weak. Unfortunately for me, all 19 of my vintage amps, and 33 guitars were stolen some years ago. I now have a Marshall JVM410HJS and a 2555X Silver Jubilee, along with a Fender Champion 100. I used the JVM and the Champion in stereo, and they sound fantastic. But, now I want to add a Fender tube amp to my setup. So, Fender, please provide us with some more informative videos about your products. Good info leads to good sales!
