You should read Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s letter to the Asiatic society arguing against the Gurukal system and in favour of a Western education. I think we went a little too Western but we cannot deny the benefits of learning from others and we should always endeavor to do so in the future. I had some elder relatives in the INA led by Netaji who were never inducted into the Indian Army after we attained independence.
