Do we know that they weren't invited? I wouldn't assume there was no attempt to invite them. It might have been that no one was invited, but that simply it was an "open" style competition where performers registered to compete? I just went to their website and that seems to be the case. It also might have been related to travel restrictions or vaccine requirements, etc.
