Thanks Scott. It was someone in the VC that introduced me to Lady Blackbird. That is what is great with these tags; you get introduced to many new artists. Loved the tag you created.

There surely have been a lot of tags. I knew that I had the records for this one. The Stones song was the first one that came to mind for that prompt. Take care.

“If God had a disco…” great line lol. With soul I think compilations are the way to go. Great job Randy. Stones even show up!

He probably has a great disco ball. I do have a lot of soul compilations, so it was hard to choose one. The Stones were my initial thought with that prompt.

Great look at your Soul collection Randy!!! I'm going to try and do this one, but I'm afraid I won't be able to answer all of the prompts. Take care my friend.

Thanks Elliott. I do have a lot of soul and r&b records, especially from the 50's through the 70's. There are a couple of tags out there that I can't do. Now if someone had a country one, I'd be all in even though I don't go much past the 70's.

I definitely need some early Jerry Butler ! Johnnie Taylor is awesome.. I like 90's Etta the best. She had a run of great records starting around 1989 or so. That's a good Dion LP. Cool to show Brook Benton.. and Tony Joe's "Rainy Night In Georgia" is completely.. EPIC !
@RandyforRoyals

I like the music Jerry Butler did with Gamble & Huff but my favorite period is the early VeeJay recordings. I like the 90's era of Etta as well. I have several CD's from that time period. Brook Benton had a great expressive voice and Tony Joe White wrote some amazing songs. Dion's blues covers are great as well.

Gene Chandler! I was about to do a "Groovy Situation" needle drop just a few days ago. Maybe I'll still do one. Wow - strong words for "Rainy Night In Georgia." That is a great song for sure. I enjoyed your response to this tag Randy!

Hi Randy. I somehow missed your comment. "Groovy Situation" is later Gene Chandler but still a great tune. I love Brook Benton's rendition of "Rainy Night" and it will probably always be number one.

interesting stuff. i dont have a ton of soul. i do enjoy it. but i guess it always ends up being when i wanna listen to soul its aways like just a comp of a buncha classic soul singles.

Great entry! I watched one other and she was more 80's period soul. Your stuff is more in my realm. I don't know if I really have any non US soul artists. I could answer all the others. Favorite song? I have so many it would be hard to choose. Rainy Night In Georgia is incredible.

The 60's and the 70's are my main soul eras and I have seen several other tags that are more into the 80's as well. I don't know a lot of soul artists outside the U.S. besides the one I chose and I know that the Average White Band are from Scotland. There are a ton of soul songs that are favorites but I think the Brook Benton tune is the one I go to the most. Thanks for watching.

Hi Randy - Excellent tag response. You have a great collection of soul. I opted out of this one because I guess I'm not a soul man. God having a disco is a pretty funny thought. You licked my favourite Stones track!

Thanks Brian. I had to opt out of the prog-rock tag as it was too much work for me to figure out. I do have a lot of soul/r&b records, especially from the 50's through the 70's. The Stones song was the first one I thought about, so I didn't have to do any more research.

Great stuff Randy. I have the Supreme Jubilees album as well. Gene Chandler, that's not a bad idea. I don't have a great deal by him, just one disco era LP and some singles on Constellation and Vee Jay but he has some great songs and I get the feeling there is much more to him. Got that same Real Gone reissue of the Errol Dunkley - it has since been put out on CD with bonus tracks, I might have to get that at some point. He's a singer most will not have heard of, yet his albums are fairly difficult to find and can be expensive and sought after. Cheers!

I also have an album Gene Chandler did with Jerry Butler but I tend to like his early material the best and that's what I would hope for a box set. It's great that you have the Supreme Jubilees. I thought about using Dennis Brown for the prompt as he covered a lot of soul tunes but I only had him on CD. I thought Errol had a pretty soulful voice and I was glad they reissued that album. I'm pretty sure that you put him on my radar. Thanks for watching and commenting.
