Man, I felt really bad for Cassandra from the old timeline. She lost her sister, brother-in-law, niece was abducted, and lost contact of her nephew after falling to an Astral Chaos portal. Then she spends the next 17 years wandering that realm and being spit into random times and places. Only to wind up half-mad and in front of herself. Fuck. Fun Fact: The titles of the chapters appear to be references to some of Cassandra's themes over the years. Fearless Eyes, Courage Ablaze, etc...

Yes, that's what happens in the CAS story mode. Your character- the Conduit- was meant to be killed by Zasalamel to keep Algol locked away for a bit longer so he could die before Algol reclaims the swords. In the original timeline, Zasalamel basically set the events of Soulcalibur III into effect by resurrecting Nightmare, but he failed to die, and directly afterward, Algol came back. Zasalamel, after the events of Soulcalibur IV, saw a future where humanity was worth sticking around for, and created a new timeline by telling his past self to spare the Conduit and assist humanity. This means that if/when Siegfried creates the Soul Embrace at the end of Soulcalibur II, Nightmare is dead for good unless Azwel or someone else resurrects him instead. This has a butterfly effect. Azwel and Groh died in the original timeline, and Cassandra wasn't warned about Sophitia's Soul Edge fragment. Raphael wasn't given anti-vampire serum by Azwel, too, which puts his whole Soulcalibur II arc in question. It's all pretty exciting. Soulcalibur VII will have a hell of a story, with Algol returning during the original Soulcalibur II, and a Zasalamel deadset on saving the world from the swords.

From what I've heard from watching videos, Kilik (in SC5) not only became a mimic character in using fighting styles, but also has been traveling around absorbing the power of the portals of the Astral Chaos (forgot what's it called), closing them; however, he had a bad fate as well. This is what 'your character' -the Conduit-has been doing throughout the events of SC6, where he's closing the portals and being a mimic character. I wonder if this will change his fate as well.

I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself, there is not a single moment in the game which is said that Zasalamel was told to spare the Conduit, neither that Azwel and Groh died on the original timeline, nothing of that is said or even implied. In any case what Zasalamel implies is that the Conduit apparition in this timeline is new, as he cannot even see his/her future. And the anti-vampire serum you mention, I think is actually the opposite. Azwel is surely giving Raphael precisely the item that will make him become a vampire once Nightmare injures him with the power of SoulEdge.

Cassandra is my of my favorite characters in Soul caliber. it's sad to see how her story ends in the original timeline but now after seeing this and now knowing that she warned her younger self about what's going to happen to her in future maybe this time around she can change what happens to her in the future and saves her sister sophtia and herself. He gave me to understand that Cassandra broke the timeline in several ways: - In this timeline she did find the true sacred swords that belonged to Sophitia, whose weapons were able to destroy a part of the swords of Cervantes in the events of SoulEdge. -In the new timeline he met her version of her past, who told him about the tragedy that could occur and caused that Cassandra timeline to disappear, changing her destiny and possible events. Hinting that Raphael at the SCIV events was right that she possessed the power to dispel evil. -Now with the blessings of the gods and with Cassandra no longer having to flee after her sister because of her insecurity, she may take a different path in search of her, causing her to go after SoulCalibur this time. -Fun fact that seems a predestination and always intrigued, in the arena of Soulcalibur III Old Toledo - Burning Gallery. There is a portrait of Cassandra fighting with a celestial shield against Nightmare. Could it be that he was really predestined?

From what I've remembered reading (since I haven't played the original games SC 1-5), the reason Kilik ended up the way he did in SC 5 is because of the fact that he went over the world many years absorbing the powers of the astral fissures in the attempts save the world from not being corrupted by them. It's the reason he subject himself to seclusion, so that he can balance the 'yin' and 'yang' powers inside him. Another downside is that he doesn't stay with Xianghua (who ended up being with another man and having his child), which upset a lot of people. Also, I'm not sure what Kilik's condition was in the V, since I haven't played the game. There was some comments or wikis stating of his life being in danger for some reason, unless that was a plotline that was dropped. That might actually change if the devs are going to make the Libra of Souls cannon. Reason being is that in the in the Character's Soul Chronicles, you can actually see bookmarks (icons that look like books) that states of the Conduit (your created character in Libra of Souls) doing something/meeting certain characters at a specific time in their soul chronicle. Also, the Conduit has been doing what Kilik has been doing before and during SC 5: traveling to different places and absorbing the power of the astral fissures. Also, he can change into different fighting styles of the many characters. In other words, the Conduit (your character) became the mimic character. If this actually become cannon, then Kilik doesn't have to end up traveling around the world and losing himself, along with possibly staying with Xianghua.

Personally I found Amy's chronicle more interesting. Cassandra's looked a little dull to me, but then you get to see the original Cassandra sidestory and that mere chapter gave a lot of meaning to her story. Very well done. 1) Epic scene between the two Cassandras, but at the same time heartbreaking to see what has become of our original Cassandra, the one we have seen for many years, it is kind of depressing. 2) But, having the original Cassandra here gives me more hope to see Viola in this game, as it has already been established that the crossover of the two timelines is a fact in the game. No more "But how can Viola be in the game if Amy is here", blah, blah, blah.

I hate how the Alexandra family in the original timeline ended up. Sophitia dies trying to protect her kids which she fails doing. Her husband and her parents died years between the years of SCIV to the SCV. Her sister is trapped in Astral Chaos with no way out. Her kids basically stopped the fight between Soul Calibur and Soul Edge in their timeline. Cassandra only wanted to take the burden from her yet fails and is sucked into Astral Chaos. Plus to add insult to injury she isn’t even mentioned by Patroklos in SCV story mode only Sophitia like she not his Aunt. Also how does Patroklos know she is dead I never seen how he found out unless he just assumed since she didn’t return she was dead. Patroklos is basically a dick but a young teen with a good reason to be since his most of the Alexander family is deceased besides him, Cassandra, and Pyrrha. His mother is dead and his sister was kidnapped. Pyrrha was kidnapped in SCIV. She had no contact with her family for 17 years. When she finally meets her brother she ends up taking on her malfested look and having him turn on her. She ends up getting soul edge only to be killed by her brother but then he reversed his actions making her turn back somewhat human. I also hate how Amy ends up in both timelines as a puppet used by Azawel in the form of Viola. Why does she have to be a puppet in order for her get a new fighting style?

Always considered soul calibur to be 'light' on theme and tone, just focus on dynamic moveset and fighting. So when cassandra's fate was left in the open, Astral Chaos from IV I figured she come back in V somehow realtively unchanged somewhat, then nothing. Then Six came out and still, nothing. DLC package and she appears, hooray except I get this bombshell that they had the balls to have Cassandra trap in that hell and driven near insane and is warning her alternative timeline counterpart. I mean wow. Fair play to soul calibur team, they actually did that. Unsure if Orignal timeline cassandra fading meant she returned to astral chaos or just died and phased out. Still that was pretty bleak!

In the events of Soul Calibur 4, Cassandra pursued Sophitia after the life of Pyrrah was threatened by Soul Edge's pursuer; Soul Calibur. Sophitia begrudgingly protected Soul Edge which forced Cassandra to try and save her sister. Through Cassandra's adventures, working with Rock for a brief time until she finally found Sophitia. But before she could even retort; Sophitia knocked her out and let Nightmare and Siegfried fight once more. In the battle; the brewing fight tore reality apart, throwing the tower and everyone within into a border between astral chaos and Earth. Through Tira's taunting and the endless sins. The battle came to a close.. And Sophitia's daughter was in a grave state. The waning power of Soul Edge would mean her child's death. And thus she ripped the Soul Edge shard from her body, right beside her heart and used it to save Pyrrah's life. Though this action would curse her with eventual malfestation in her adulthood. Sophitia died knowing in a mother's love. She saved her daughter. Cassandra awoke and roamed the chaotic area to finally relocate her sister. Only to see her body. Panic struck her and made a dash; but an Astral Chaos rift opened before her. Unable to stop in time; she'd fall through the portal which closed afterwards. Throwing her into endless chaos. Never to be seen again.. ----- Come to the new timeline; Cassandra walked to the Shrine of Eurydice to "borrow" Sophitia's old weapons from her first travels. A rift opens before Cassandra; thrusting the masked swordsman... Unknowingly to Cassandra. Was nobody else but herself. Malfested by her failure and endlessly roaming the rifts. Slaying any and all who she deemed enemies... all in the delusion to save her sister and family. Cassandra , in this new timeline did not rely on her own strength. In this dire moment of shock and the energies of the Astral Chaos; Hephestus came to Cassandra in her most dire time. The Omega Sword and Elk Shield in her palms had still the divine power from Sophitia's first quest. And thus gave Cassandra the connection she needed to fight back against herself. After finally seeing her opponent's weakness. She'd strike the being down. Noting that this swordsman was fighting with everything she could for a purpose. In this moment of pause.. the sword's weaponry shined and gave her some clarity.. Cassandra saw herself.. and learned of Sophitia's grim fate. Cassandra; tragically failed in her quest. But after this moment of clarity was able to retell her failure to her younger self.. and in her final moments. Vanished before Cassandra's eyes. The fate for the original Cassandra is unknown. Whether this timeline's events meant her future would never come to pass.. Or her final mission to change Sophitia's fate succeeded. We may not know..

If SC7 happens, I would hope to see the return of the more popular characters like Viola. While I think Pyrrah Omega is not returning; her fighting style could return as an iteration of Nightmare. Often, Soul edge takes on the greatsword form but it'd be a lovely change to have that brutal sword and shield combo.

No. The SCV: New Legends book explains what happened in SCIV. Essentially, Pyrrha was exposed to soul edge. So much so that without the sword, Pyrrha would die. Sophitia tore out the fragment that she got imbedded into her during her fight with Cervantes. Cassandra appeared to stop Sophitia, but she knocked out Cassandra with one hit after finding out what happened. Afterwards, Cassandra woke up and ran towards her sister’s collapsed body, but in that moment a portal to astral chaos opened and it sucked her and Sophitia in. Leaving no trace of the two in the world.

Who's to say she had been suspended in this chaos with her sister's dead body for so long? Her mind wracked with grief and failure that malfestation overtook her. Losing her mind in a delusion to save her sister.. making her see nothing but enemies as she failed her quest in the end.

She maybe in a stated where she doesn’t remember to much but she still has some memory and her look from SCIV. I just didn’t get how they gave her a half ass ending like that. Project Soul basically said, “ *We killed your sister, trapped you in there for 17 years then made your niece and nephew fight each other before they’re made to try to live a normal life and now we make your parallel self kill you in battle* ”

So this means that this new timeline for SC is not a retcon but an actual continuation of the original timeline, this is essentially what NRS/WB have done with MK9 (being a continuation of MK Armageddon) and now MK11. Soul Calibur don't have to be like MK just because they have cinematic cutscenes. There is a comic book way of telling it. Bayonetta has friggin' screen slideshows.

Except that 1) Story modes don't need to be fully cinematic just for the sake of being like MK, but because Fighting Games must have cinematic stories in order to truly allow the players to be immersed in it, and those comic book style of story telling really makes it hard to do so, especially in the Libra of Souls mode. It's not an NRS-only thing and it's sure as hell not excuses. As a Cassandra main since SC2 (First SC I ever played), I kinda love that she’s one of two characters that is aware of the original timeline - and the only to really interact with it. It really bumps up her status as a character of importance - and more importantly - it helps her step out of her sisters shadow and have her own path and sense of self/identity. The fate of her original self is tragic, as well as Sophitia’s. But it makes them all the more notable. My only regret is not playing SCV despite all the bad things I’ve heard about it. I honestly kinda boycotted it because Cassandra wasn’t there. But the fact that SCV focused so heavily on her family instead of Siegfried always intrigued me.

The dlc character can be a guest character, no need to follow the game's plot. With a good game, it is not the timeline, but the joy of the player with the game character, to see the character that the player loves. If they aren't demended,they wouldn't be on this game and had this game been based on soul calibur 2 and 3, they would have made the roster at launch
