omg my question got answered. 5:00 the resource gathering question. Very happy with the answer and yea totally agreed the question did get slightly missread from "fish keeping" to "fishing" but thats fine, just mentioning it because the answer about Ode being the the type to ruin the world while the Enovy's restore the world is very fitting and I 100% agree that it should probably feel different from normal resource gathering in games. Examples for each type of gaining resources: -Fishkeeping over fishing maybe you get fish that you rescue and they give you scales other non-meat resources as you rescue and help them out. -Gardening similar to the next question that was answered about fixing rivers and other parts of nature, by restoring the world more plants grow and maybe you can boost their growth/harvest by repurpusing other materials for compost and what not (personal secret home would be nice for actual plots by chance which would open more possibilities for ode to attack or have daily missions for dealing with cuz they came to close to your home). -Mining is the hardest one to create in such a way in which it would make sense that you can be as green about it as much as possible, the current way of gaining metal is very nice tho its just so hard to imagine a game like this without mining in some sort of way unless idk highjacking artificially grown minerals and metals that ode are somehow making grow from original ore and crystal clusters (would make sense why certain giant crystals are around) within mines and you can take those as you destroy the cause of that artificail growth and then take the extra resources created in the walls because they dont belong there but also it would be a shame to waste it.... This was way too much spitballin brainstorming but I like thinking bout it and I'm just uber jazzed that my question was picked and answered in a promising way

With that restoration thing, they could try doing something like how guild wars 2 does with their constantly looping world events. A chain of events to restore it, then a chain of events that'll lead it to corruption again if not stopped in time.

6:00 on this, I remember seeing that the resource gathering mechnics in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are very much in line with that same mentality of only taking what you need rather than environmental exploitation/destruction. Could be worth checking out!

Yeah, for a game that focuses so much on nature...fishing and mining seem like perfect fits for a world like Soulframe. Though, I think it'd be more "DE" to incorporate them in different ways that are unexpected. Like, Warframe being a sci-fi space ninja game, when people realize there's spear fishing, that's a major gobsmack, and although people don't like doing those things for hours on end, they're still a nice little break from all the massacring of enemies. Gathering activities in Soulframe done differently, but offer some fun gameplay minigames or thematic rewards done in a DIFFERENT way than just "mining/fishing" would be really cool, though, I'd love to see that added.

Sign up with your email. Every so many months they send out 1k keys to people on the list, pretty sure based on when you sign up. It is very much an Alpha test and not a beta tho- there is not much in the game yet
