After experimenting with dozens of ways to make a macrame market bag, this is the absolute easiest way I came up with. Although it is quite simple to make, the finished product is beautiful! Make sure to watch and listen the whole way through to understand the instructions, DON'T SKIP AHEAD!!!!
Please understand that these are the measurement that I wanted, so if you want yours to be wider, add 2, 4, or 6 more ropes, (just make sure its an even number of course!!) if you want yours to be longer, add more length! The whole point is to use this as your guide and make it your own:)
color
*PLEASE NOTE** it’s always a good idea to cut a few extra inches to make room incase your knots are not as tight as these, or you are using a thicker or 3ply etc.
In this video I used Ganxxet 5mm (the former 4mm cord is now 5mm), braided, cotton air rope in blush. I chose this rope because its more durable, and since I do plan on using this bag regularly, I need to be able to wash it. I don't recommend just throwing it in the laundry though, I will either wash it by hand, or on the gentle cycle and lay flat to dry.
Ganxxet is offering my followers a 10% discount, please use code: soulfulnotions at check out!
Here is a link to the rope I used: www.ganxxet.co...
If you need extra help with the Lark's head knot, square knots, or alternating square knots, please see my tutorial for basic beginner knots here: • HOW TO: 7 MUST KNOW Ma...

I’m so happy you liked it! I think if you wanted instead of the one single cord, you could make a braid, or maybe a square knot or alternating hitch knot pattern, then tie those like you would the single strand... OR I have a mother tutorial for the second market bag on here and that strap is super padded! Hope that helps:)

It sounds like somewhere you may have used a wrong cord to make a knot in a previous row. Also, double check that you have the exact amount of cords I do in the video. If everything is the same as the tutorial it’s should work as it shows in the video so something sounds off!

Hi, I didn't see my question below, I'm having trouble finding braided cord in a variety of colors, so I'm considering twisted cord. What do you think, is there a big difference in the look of the finished bag?

@@soulfulnotions2648 LOL, okay don't have enough experience to know how the bag with turn out. But I'll go for the color first and the design of the cord, second. Thanks!
@soulfulnotions2648
@soulfulnotions2648 3 жыл бұрын
The only difference in the appearance will be that your cord is twisted. That was the question, correct? Mine is braided so it doesn’t look twisted. Also, the braided cord I used has a little stretch to it and holds knots EXTREMELY well! That mostly why I chose braided cotton air cord for this bag.

Hi, thank you for your videos! This cord is very stretchy. When you cut your cord, do you pull it tight, or let it lay naturally? When I pull it tight, theres a good 2 feet of difference in the measurements.
@soulfulnotions2648
@soulfulnotions2648 3 жыл бұрын
I never pull it tight to cut or measure because that wouldn’t be the actual cord length, that would be the length when it is stretched. So most definitely measure and cut when it is layed flat, naturally.

Yes I don’t see what not, just make sure you cut the cords longer to accommodate the extra length each knot will take using a thicker cord!

it will but it will be MUCH smaller so I suggest adding at least 8 to 10 more cords on each used of the bag to widen it.

@soulfulnotions2648

About 3/4 of one, it stretches out pretty big but it small/med when empty, so if you want a bigger one, add more rows and use the whole ball:)
