I miss these shows. 2000-03 was the best. They played so many shows in NYC. The trio is still the best soulive experience IMO.

I on a whim saw them 2 nights at a small venue in Santa Monica in 2001. Blown away and kept seeing them for 12+ years. But I was always chasing that 2001 experience

I’m a bassist, but Neal opened my eyes to true groove. His notes are so full and the approach is something no bassist would take. Truly unique dude

Nothing but that good old classic jazz sensibilities but with a decidedly modern rhythm. Which is a sound I would liken to a stream of people who are interested in the same thing but just don't know it yet but is ushering in a brand new Pax Urbana Golden age of the city The. Power is so great and the world is always changing but this is an introspective. Dichotomy of the world of. Today and looking to tomorrow A brightly burning guiding light and has brought all the participants in this pax Urbana a great multitude standing at this intersection like an integrated circuit producing a virtual intelligence that is giving birth to new ideas

Dynamic as a mother smooth and revolutionary sound Hell yeah man this is. The bomb energy levels are very high with the. Output of energy it takes to keep this rhythm in motion

This is either '99 or '00. Think its '99. These were the quintessential Soulive years. Doesn't get much better than this. Cant wait for Bowlive 5!!!!!!!!

Watch the beginning of organ solo, say 15:45. He stops playing bass. Guitarist takes it over. Guy to the left has two bass strings on his guitar. Watch him just before 16:00. Now he's doing bass for the organ solo. It is very well done. Sounds great!

That fellow is named Charlie Hunter. He is known for playing that instrument and mostly plays both the lead line and bass lines together. He's got some amazing music out there.

I'm guessing this is in 2001, judging from the setlist. 2002 at the latest. Couldn't find this exact concert on archive.org, but there are others. These guys were only a few years out of college, the band only formed in '99! It's a great recording, I wonder if a DVD or something is available
