There's not a doubt in my mind that James Brown told Fred, Lyn, Maceo and all the others that they just didn't cut it without him. James Brown always felt that he had to be in the room in order for his band to be on point. He had them re-record "The Popcorn" after a show in Dallas because their recorded takes -- without him -- lacked something.
@SoulOnTopJB Жыл бұрын
😄 They certainly didn't produce the same music when he wasn't around, either within the JB fold or after they had left, the only possible exception would be Maceo's first LP

Let me see if I can name these cats to the best of my ability. On Tenor Saxophone is St. Clair Pinckney, on Alto Saxophone is Maceo Parker on Trombone in which he calls the "Soul Sister" is Fred Wesley, on rhythm guitar on the left is Hearlon "Cheese" Martin and on the right is Jimmy "Chank" Nolan, I believe on bass on the left is "Sweet" Charles Sherrell and on the right is Fred Thomas, on lead drums is John "Jabo" Starks, on the other is John Morgan, on congas/percussion is Johnny Griggs, now here's the tricky part; I believe the trumpeter with the mustache on the left is Jerone "Jasaan" Sanford and the cat next to him has to be either Ike Oakley or Russell Crimes.
@SoulOnTopJB3 жыл бұрын
Very good, I'd go for Ike Oakley next to Jasaan 👍
